Thread: Buildings A Wishlist
1. A small footprint (lot size) outdoor cafe for chefs
2. An Arena that would be available only for Rank V cities.
3. A "police" headquarters for the Militia
There was a thread similar to this in the architect forum, I think the hot building choices there were...
Coliseum
&
Mall
Personally, I would like to see tall buildings, high rises of sorts, like the playercity hall on Corellia but with multiple floors accessible(like 5 or 6) by elevator of some kind. This would be great for condensed commerce(aka mall) or apartment buildings, or a multi unit storage building. I don't know what it would be used for, but I miss TALL BUILDINGS, and the ability to go up more than 3 levels(or 2 don't know current house max).
4. Monuments. Big and very very expensive building that could make a city more unique.
5. Zoo. Would be cool, has been discussed in the past, lots of ways to work it.
Roads/Paths, Bridges, Outdoor Stairs/Ramps, City Walls (to include arches to prevent griefing).
Water! By this, I mean the ability to add streams/moat-like waterpathsthat dynamically alter the terrain in the way that camps do. Placing them adjacent to one another would connect them, making a larger body of water. If this isn't possible then the walled water-paths of Keren on Naboo should be. They wouldn't require terrain alteration.
I'd like to see profession specific houses or town features. ARanger, for instance, should be able to make a house that looks like one of the Ranger camps. Since the models are already in-game it shouldn't be too hard to add. An "Animal Zoo" for a Bio-Engineer may be anice feature, especially if it can include vendor placement.
Crafting Stations, Tables, Chairs - Can we drop these like street lamps in our city please?
Medcenter with two entrances - Theres a reason why medcenters have an entrance and an exit. Why this was not included with player cities, I dont know.
Barracks - Similar to the PvE battlefield Barracks, (that you have to destroy) and it spawns troops of your faction.
Walls - I could understand if these were not included because of a "design issue" or "Not ready yet", but the reason we were given was "We dont want a mayor to wall in his enemies." First, any mayor who griefs isnt going to be a mayor very long. You have to realize that. Second, how hard is it to come up with the idea to code it so that walls cannot be made "closed" Just make it so that there cant be any area innaccessible by the connecting of walls. Trust me. We need these.
Radius Beacon - Many of us politicans don't like the idea of having to place our city hall in the dead center of our city. To be honest, a lot of us would like travelers to be greeted with the sight of it first, at the edge of our city. A Radius Beacon would be great, so that once you reach level 4, you can place the city hall wherever you want, and the beacon will go in your City Halls place. The Beacon will represent the City level radius of influence.
Signs - We want signs. We shouldve had signs. Plain and simple. Signs to drop in the street. We need these.
Statues of each race - Nothing fancy. While I would like to be able to "customize" each statue by dragging clothing onto it to represent what I want the statue dressed in, I beleive that may be asking too much. I would, however, like a statue of each race in a noble pose, preferably unisex.
Bridges - Why werent these included?
The best ones I've heard:
Arena- Could charge a small fee for entrance to the events
Mall- Could rent space to merchants, even non-citizens
High rise apartments- It would be great to offer low cost housing. A modest 2 room apartment that someone could rent. Could be an addittional source of income for the city. It would allow more citizens without taking up space.
All these ideas would make $$$ for the cities and give outsiders a reason to come to your city.
1.) Roads and Pathways ... Cobblestone, brick, rock, etc...
2.) Bridges... Styled to the planet fro the ravines we love so deeply within our city.
3.) The Outside Cafe...
like the previous poster i want signs.
short of having your architect change the name of a garden or streetlamp, there is no way to let people know the name of you city. signs could be used as street signs, town heralds, historical markers, information postsand tastful billboards. if you were allowed to place them (or an indoor version) inside then they could be used as a way the explain laws, vote procedures, office hours, menus and price guides.
1.) I would like to see a simple footprint that you can place which allows you to drop crafting stations, tables and chairs. This footprint could have no visable walls and the same floor as the terrain.
2.) I would like more open merchant tents (like bestine) This would allow an "open air village market" that would gather all merchantsin one spot and not casue confusion or be an eyesore.
3.) I would love to see a Militia HQ.
4.) An arena for pvp and gladatorial events (pet wars anyone?)
I definately agree with the signs idea! That would be just fantastic.
I also agree with whoever suggested outdoor tables and chairs, we want some of these outside our cantina and near our park areas.
Little, easily implementedtouches like these will help take Player Cities from just a collection of different buildings to something that looks like a real community.
- Apartment Buildings - 10 Lot, multiplayer housing facilities owned/operated by a single landlord
- Mansions - 10 lot, 500 item storage houses for the "Elite"
- "filler" - the ability to place some filler / connector material in between houses to form "streets" and "roads"
- Road/Path tiles - to better define roads/streets
- SIGNS- the ability to place street signs and point travellers in the appropriate direction to key locales
- Billboards - a place to post public notices and information for residents and travelers alike
----------------------------------------------------------------
I also believe there needs to be the ability to raise / lower structures and or minor land adjustments for some planets so that entrances to buildings can be more easily seen/accessed.

You guys are missing what seems to be one of the most popular ideas elsewhere...Apartment/Condo towers/buildings. The owner sets them up then "rents" rooms...elevator connects the floors. This will help cities that are tight on space, add to the feel of a city, and in general help build up a city. They could range from luxury penthouses with view balconies, to public housing ghettos (lol). A benefit is perhaps it only takes 1-3 lots to rent them, making them attractive to the merchant or resource harvestor. Put a cap on the number you can rent to one, to keep them from being used as cheap storage.
After the other ideas in the thread, id like decorative buildings...Skyscrapers for corelia etc.
