Hi everyone. Well I just got Novice Politician and Started my city. It has the 10 required people and no more
.
Tonight it will advance past the 24 hour mark and stay there
I was curoius about a couple things. What are the number of citizens required for each advancement?
Also about taxes. What should I set them too so that I wont go bankrupt and also not make people leave because of having them to high. All I have right now is a City Hall. Nothing else.
Thanks everyone

Congrats
I understand the ranks are activated at 20, 30, 55 and 80 - andsincePublish 6they have to be active accounts or "refreshed" every six weeks (see my post "38 citizens lost" below!).
In your position, the first thing I'd get down is a bank - it's a nice, cheap and extremely useful perk appreciated by everyone. Everything else is a luxury - and usually a waste of money! - with the possible exception of a starport much later on. The new city garages are a nice addition at rank 2, so perhaps look to make or buy one of those after securing the bank.
Thirdly, but probably the highest priority - get yourself a "cushion"of a few extra citizens asap.Whenever folk get together there are inevitably falllings out - even among friends - and you don't want your city to crumble because of couple of citizens decide to up sticks on the eve of an election.
As for the taxes, that's totally depends on your wealth and plans for the city. I've run a zero-tax guild city at personal expense since we placed the deed. If you want to attract players early on, high taxes is not the way to go about it - especially when so many players are collapsing under the new rules and others will be bribing new citizens heavily to keep their numbers up.
If you get on well with the other nine initial citizens, perhaps organise a fund-raising night or appealfor donations among them. In reality, the cost of running a city is pennies tomost established players, and a few may be willing to donate to the city funds during the early stages to help get things off the ground.
As mentioned, I can't really comment on reactions to taxes as I've never used them and don't even know the limits. But in reality I doubt may players would grumble too much at a token levy for the benefit of living somewhere nice. If you're aiming high, no residents can expect you to cover the bills for expensive perks/gardens etc.
At a total guess!, and assuming you need to tax, perhaps aim for somewhere in the middle of the hightest and lowest rates and accompany the decision with a city-wide email outlining your reasons/expenses and plans for the future.
One final tip - be very careful with zoning rights and avoid granting them unless absolutely necessary exceptto trusted members. Better to place new residents' homes yourself and transfer them back to the citizen that find yourself the victim of griefers who swoop in to take over and loot your treasury or wreck your new city just for the hell of it.
It does happen and placing property on other people's behalves is the only way to ensure it doesn't happen. Theoretically, one mistake granting zoning rights for 24 hours to a single player could lead to him adding an infinite number of new houses and transfering them in the event of a hostile takeover. Unlikely? Yes - but not unheard of!
Good luck anyway, and hope you have fun!
