Thread: Idea for city management
- Give mayors a layover map of the city they can access trough the city terminal: this layover map can be used to devide the map in lots, each lot represent a specific building type like a small house or a guild hall up to the cloning center.
- Zoning rights work as follows: yougive a player the rights to put a building on slot x in your city.
- At higher skill level the Mayor can destroy a building in his city. If the mayor choode to destroy the building, the owner is warned with mail that he canredeed it himself in a weekor it is destroyed automaticalyandthe deed is put somewhere in a sort of vendor at the cityhall where he canpick it upwith an extra cost (makes it intresting to redeed it yourself). If the owner even doesn't pick it up in 3 weeks the mayor can pick it out of the vendor (better insteadofbeing destroyed like selling deed on the bazaar). In this process the building may not be damaged!
- If the city influence grow it can happen that some already excisting buildings get in range of it, for those the owner is warned by e-mail and that they have a week toredeed it out of the bordersor it is automaticaly destroyed and put in the cityhall vendor where they can get it afterwards without anextra cost. In this process the building may not be damaged!
Some of these points are looking extreem, but i think these make managing a city much more fun and less stressing. It also takes a lot of coding, but that is why i have puted it here first to see what you think. Hope to get some positive reaction and I'm sure of it there will also be negative ones but keep them constructive and don't say it is just bad without any explanation or how you would see it. Thanks for that.
A map of the city made available to the mayors would be a great idea.
I've created on on my work laptop using Visio, so I can have that next to my PC at home - which helps a lot !!
The idea of being able to destroy structures - is a bit draconian, and very liable to griefing. It has been posted here that a mayor managed to get access to game accounts for people who had to go away to war - this is a very innovative solution, but should not be necessary.
I think the mayor should get the rights to move or maintain any building in the city for a small fee from the treasury. That way - if a person makes a mistake and has the house 1 square out of place, it can be easily fixed by the mayor - no need to redeed. Also, if the mayor notices a house vacant for some time, and that player has not been seen can choose to either move the house out of the way to make space and/or add maintenance if the mayor knows the player will be back.
A second idea I have is an 'off-line' mayor application where you can use the in game email function, look at city plans etc. without being in the game and therefore having some time to think about the city and send reminder emails, or respond to email requests. Sort of a Mayor's Office function, with a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door. I know you can mark yourself AFK, but you are still going to get bugged if people can see you are online.
Some intresting ideas in this thread... So I'll add mine.
How about the Mayor being able to tax each player differently. That would be for the player that instists on having their house set wrong, the player that got zoning rights that you might not of wanted to or the player that wants lots of lights and statues around their house (offset the maint cost to the city).
For the map idea.. I would love to just be able to get the map view you get when placing a structure for the whole city, this way you can .jpg it and edit it (being able to see the house names would be a big help).
