Politician Archive
Thread: Political XP/AP/SP Please Read!!!
When anyone enters any building that is marked public (as many cities use houses and guild halls for city purposes s/a malls, zoos, museums, ect.).
Anytime someone uses or enters a civic structure (i.e. shuttleport, med facility, cantina, cloning facility, theater, garage, bank, ect.) other than city hall.
Anytime someone uses a vendor, trainer, or mission term.
5th tier = 4000 xp/pt + 500 ap/pt
4th tier = 3000 xp/pt + 400 ap/pt
3rd tier = 2000 xp/pt + 300 ap/pt
2nd tier = 1000 xp/pt + 200 ap/pt
Novice = 500 ap/pt + 15 sk/pt

Here is a suggestion for a revamping of the politicians tree.
Master = 5000 xp/pt + 650 ap/pt + 15 sk/pt
5th tier = 4000 xp/pt + 500 ap/pt
4th tier = 3000 xp/pt + 400 ap/pt
3rd tier = 2000 xp/pt + 300 ap/pt
2nd tier = 1000 xp/pt + 200 ap/pt
Novice = 500 ap/pt + 15 sk/pt
This would allow the politician profession to be mainly based on xp/pt and ap/pt rather than sk/pt. It is still a challenge, in that the ap/pt must be acquired, and still handicaps the politician from mastering an additional higher level profession. What it does do is free up some sk/pt to be used for combat, crafting, ect as a money making profession.
I generally agree with the idea and comments you made. As for revamping the politician profession, I have an alternative solution.
Remove the skillpoint cost for novice and raising the ap/pt to 620. Reduce the skillpoint cost by one for each skill. This would then make the master politician cost to be 1240 ap/pts and 45 skillpoints.
Giving up 77 skillpoints and 1120 ap/pts for a profession that has no way to make money is a way too much. Once your city is up and running and have what you need, your skills are no longer needed (surrender your skills and everything stays). You have to worry about the 6 week inactivty, work at trying to recruit citizens. If a city falls a tier level or doesn't make it, who do you think will get blamed. Being a guild leader is alot less stress. You get to be a leader without using skillpoints and ap/pts.
There are other things, factional alliances, GCW, role playing, city events, etc. You more or less become an entertainment director for the citizens of the city.
I'm not bashing the profession, but I will say I had alot less stress playing the game when I was a master dancer/ch. When I had informed the town once I master politician, I would be giving it up and maintain novice level so I could pursue a profession that would get me way to earn an income, everyone thought I was killing the town. Glad I was able to clear that up quickly.
The politician is an unique profession and we have the ability to actually contribute to the content in the game, but we could use the tools to add content. How about the ability to name our city halls? Add colors or flags to the city halls? Add color to the droid ticket taker? Having the gardens actually looking like gardens (and sit better on the land). Only a few ideas. They are big ground shaking ideas, but it would add something to player cities and help make player cities a bit more unique.
Oh well, I smell dinner, which means something is getting close to burning.
