To protect your citizens from the awful gnort infestation

Even better, have one or even twomilitiamembersand your city will have more protection than any city held by "Galactic Empire NPC's"

The reason for militias is to protect your cities from player who cheat and scam by using /citywarn but because of the greifers it was removed. Personaly I am glad. On bloodfin if you are a rebel on the north eastern side of Dantooine and you travel to New Mandolor then you become Tefed, I have no idea why unless your avatar actual travels in a straight line from point a to b. on the eastern side of the city are several imp HQ's with, to my unfortunet surprise, have working covert scanners. I was Tefed, a militia member, who was a declared imp, banned me from the city, thanks I promise to never shop there again or do business to any of your guild members. Fortunetly I had de-fraged my computer that day so i loaded up pretty fast in time to see, you have been banned. I ran for it but got stuck inside the shuttle port and was executed by the city milita and and commando.

Points to make:

  • 30 sec warning to leave is not enough time to load into the GUI and run the 350m to leave the (city)

  • Player will greif if given the tools

  • Side note, devs / csrs, create a reb character and travel from the north eastern player cities to new mandalor, see if you get tefed, im sure its not just me.

Ways to improve the system of /citywarn

  • /Citywarn - Prevents un-wanted players from using the cities cantina, medical center and cloning center, additionly players cant travel to the cities viashuttleport but may use it to travel away from city one time.

    • Players will recieve a Tef, but are not attackable, player my not be warned again for 24 hours

    • The ban lasts between 24 hours, or until lifted

    • Players name is added to a list on city menu and a number of placed next to there name showing the number of times warned.

  • /cityban - If a player is warned2 time then 3rd time can be the last strike.

    • Player Recieves sytem message, warning saying he and or she has been banned from %TT city.

    • Player becomes attackable by city militia withen 15 minutes. I think 15 minutes because it takes 10 minutes for a shuttle to arrive, this gives the player a chance to leave via the shuttle port.

    • All citizens recieve a city hall mail stating %TT has been banned from the city.

    • If you are banned from a city multipal times, or if you use the /cityban alot CSR's will notified, so the situation can be looked into.

What I realy would like to see for citywarn are several layers of warning, 1 = slap on the wrist and 3 = "The worst" or even custom punishments, maybe the punishment could be your not allowed to clone at the city or cantina privlages revoked. To keep the over usage down, have a max number of milita and a max number of /warns.

Im getting to long winded, im going to stop here. bye bye

OK Devs ... Try this one on for size:

Citizen ofplayer city who was in militia goes postal... be it holiday depression or WHATEVER I could care less the excuse!

So he picks a fight with a guild mate and /removeguild self... then waltzes over to his house ... does he redeed it? NO! he renamesthe housewith rude vulgar statements towards to guild-city-and person they are mad at

Next he goes and joins the oposite faction and gets an ATST for Christmas...

He is still a citizen! No, we can not ban him! Nor can we remove his house!

He is still in the militiaand BRAGS about it!!! He has full use of militia commands! Including zoning rights! SEE THE PROBLEM?!?!

Can I as Mayor remove him from militia? NOPE!!! Why? because he is aware I can not remove him unless he is within 10 meters from the city hall terminal and makes sure he is NEVER that close!

So Mr X spends his days and nights griefing our citizens... Braging about how stupid the Devs are for not forseeing this as a problem nor stopping him

A.He continuosly changes the vulgar house title.

B. He waltzes into any public building he chooses and commands his pets to kill anyone overt or TEF.

C. He sits right at the edge of the cloning tube inside the cloning center and greif kills all citizens who clone before their screen even loads.

Have I tried to reason with him? yes. All I get is "HAHA F* U"

*knocks on the Devs PC screen* "Hellooooo anyone home?!"

You need totake SWG game specific realities to the programming round table with you Devs... like for instance... sinceSOE hassales of game time cards in every walmart and 7/11you have all these imature, uber, parental ignored, teenage punks playing this multi buillion dollar MMO RPG and ruining the content for the adults. Let me ask you this Devs and take this straight to the top... Who has the money and the attention span to be your long term customers? Them? or us?

We have a city\guild of majority adults ranging 20 to 45 yrs old. We have 23 memebers who have left this game in the last 12 weeks due to lack of hot fixes for crucialy defective programming and CSR ability to fix.

FIX THIS911!!!

Akasha, I agree the system is pretty messed up. But dont go getting high and might just because youre 25 and play this game. I am 18 but I am a member of a forum and many of the people that play are around the age 15-17 and we are very mature. Great, I am glad that you have found a guild where you fit in and enjoy yourself, but the younger players need that too. If youre a guild of 25-40 year olds, then why did you let this 'little kid' in? why did you grant him zoning rights? Maybe you guys should evaluate who you let in and who you let join your city first. Thats a thought. have your mayor do his job! Its called self control. learn it

The mature gamer will not act as described in this situation above. You can be a mature gamer at 15, at 25, at 35, at 45. But you can also be a moron at any age.

So true!

I think one of the problems this game has is the lack of respect and as mentioned "Humanity" that the generation gap in players suffers. Let's face it those of us who grew up in the "original Star Wars" era were raised in a different world. Your right... it is a humanity problem... the younger generation of today has absentee parents because many are too absorbed working 3 jobs to make ends meet in our insane economy and thier teenagers are basically raising themselvessitting at home for hours on end listening to maralyn manson, staring at a PC screen, rarely leaving their room. That doesn't teach proper socialization skills nor ethics to our youth. There are guns in our highschools. It's no secret that divorce ismore common todaythan buying a new pair of Britannia jeans was in the 70's The younger generation of today justdoesn't have the family values, respect, and common curtousy that we did when we were kids. I'm not saying this covers 100% of the youth... of coarse there are good, respectable and mature youth in the world today. But I am saying they are a minority. I'm not trying to be "High and mighty". I'm just trying to be real. My daughter is 25 and she would NEVER consider playing an online game like this. Why? because I taught her right .. that's why... she is busy being a full time carreer woman, a Mom, going to Church and raising my Grandson is way more important than a game. I on the other hand am retired and have time and the money to play games like this

There is a "terms of service agreement" for SWG yet the game is too CSR understaffed to enforce it. If this were UO, DAoC, EQ, or any other numer of MMO RPGs you could click a button in the help screen and as soon as it was your turn in que a CSR would magically apear to help you. That isnot the case in SWG. They just don't have enough in game Customer Service staff. In other games if one player's actions are effecting another players game whoalso "PAYS TO PLAY" in a negative way? *WHAMO* a smurf (nick name for UO CSRs in game) zaps the offender into a jail cell in game (seriously!) and depending on the client history of offender? you either get A. Your first warning B. 72 hour ban or C. Perma ban. They don't mess around man! That Terms of Service agreement is a legal contract and if you breech it you suffer consiquences!

Well SOE needs that same attitude and level of authorityin this game! Lets be real here... don't you think a game like SWG is bringing in WAY MORE ppl than UO ever dreamed of? And it sure costs a lot more to play this game too! In UO it costs $16 for the game $12.99 a month for 5 characters... here in SWG land it cost $100 for two gamesand $30 a month for two characters!!! (one for 9 lots *rolls eyes* for a PA hall and one for my harvestors and house) So when it comes tothe levelandquality of customer service from SOE in game? Darn tootin I expectto get more for what I pay for!

All I am saying is HEY DEVS please get with the program and enforce your own rules. Be more active with hotfixes to major problems. Spend more time listening to your clients in game.... you know.... the ones who are generating that 7digit monthly revenue by playing I'm sure Lucas arts takes a HUGE chunk of that but seriously folks.... a game like this that pulls in WAY over 2 mil a month in subscription fees should be able to step it up and have the BEST CSR staff and the BEST Dev team... right?

The above situation is harassment, and the player/mayor should pursue this with every means available to him to rectify the situation. This is not a case of 'bad programming'.

This is a case of 'bad humanity'.

The ONLY problem with /citywarn was the ability to absolutely grief someone who either made the mistake of cloning in your clone center, or chose to clone there (nearest) instead of in an NPC city.

If you made someone immune to /citywarn for 3 minutes after cloning, I don't think it would be a grief tool anymore. BECAUSE, if you go to a city, get killed (once) that isn't griefing. If you then go BACK to that city and get killed again and again, follow the Docs advice of this man:

Man "Doc, it HURTS when I do this!"

Doc "Don't do that!."

Actually, the second problem with city warn was that people could use it to block off POI's by warning anyone who passed through town on the way to the dungeon or wherever they were going. Holo admitted it was a mistake allowing building that close to POI's but that the suggested changes (disabling warning within a radius of POI's, removing the cities) were not options for various reasons.

By adding a longer timer and the change to cloning centers, there is really no legitimate reason why we can't have it back.

The ability to kill CSR's is THEIR problem, not ours.

Ok first OUCH, your post gave me a headache to read. Second I'm sorry but you make it sound like any 25 year old mother who buys this game is doing wrong by her children or family. Maybe that's not the way you meant it but I wanted to let you know that's the way it was taken by me and perhaps others. I dissagree but, this forum is not the place for this or any of the other comments.

This isa post on the reasonings behind having milita's in the game when they are pretty much worthless in the eyes of many. And then it was about what was felt a problem that a militia member had gone rogue and couldn't be removed (I agree this is a problem). It has nothing to do with age. It has to do with someone being a punk, at any age it's unacceptable. I hope that the devs see this and take it into consideration. I feel that the mayor should be able to remove a militia member at any time no matter where the person is or if they are even on line (that's the way it is with pa's afterall).

This is just my two cents take it how you will.
