Thread: Decoration Cap & Streetlamps
Alright, so I finally busted out and went up the beautification tree all the way up to level three. I am going about my business of beautifying my city now. We are a level 3 city aka Township. I start with Central Park, here I place a small garden, and 8 fountains, with beautiful organization, 4 round blazing things, 2 fountains with hands to air, and 2 fountains with that guy sitting. In my opinion the blazing fountains, and the 2 options with the gold guy are the best there is, the others are crap, but that is not what this post is about. Alright so I finish Central Park and move on to lighting the streets of my wonderful city. I had produced a bunch of regular streetlamps because those seem to be the tallest of both white and blue in color. I begin with our shortest street, and move to the west alternating white in one street and blue in the next. I get to the last street which is our longest street, and place two lamps, on the third I get this message that my city cannot support any more decorations. I was like **edit** these are just streetlamps, all I am trying to do is place the proper amount of streetlamps in my city, and I maxed the decorations cap. Now, I thought I was being very lenient with placement cause I could definitely have placed more lamps to further illuminate the city but low and behold I still hit the cap. This is outrageous and needs to be dealt with, street lamps are needed to help create a lived-in look for the city. Now with the current system the devs are asking us to choose between a half-lit city and some gardens, a dark city and gardens, or a fully lit city without gardens.
This must be changed, and here is how.... REMOVE STREET LAMPS FROM THE DECORATION COUNT, and make the maximum number of street lamps equal to the number of city structures.
Other politicians, how do you feel about this issue?
Well, the way I see it is this . . . fountains and statues look cool, as do gardens. But think of your average town . . . how many statues and fountains do you have? Is there a huge garden every block?
Personally I think they should DROP the number of decorations per city if they are concerned about server space, but make decorations not include streetlamps. I think that 25 to 30 decorations for a metropolis is fine if that's just fountains, statues, and gardens . . . there's no reason to have 20 Dantooine Meditation Gardens, face it. Make streetlights equal to half the structures in the city, and for the love of Pete make the maintenance on the things 50cr a piece.

In our city we have used small gardens and medium gardens instead of lights to light up intersections in our city. They cast about the same light and look better.
