Thread: Solutions and Opinions
ATTENTION: Please read. I need your opinions and respect your experience in this game enough to throw myself out there to mass amounts of criticism. I hope I dont receive that but I would like your honest input.
Hi all. Have been on SWG for for 2 months now. Have read alot of the posts on the Politician thread. I have seen all of your complaints. But I went and did it anyway. I am a new Mayor. Partly because of many of the complaints. I have lurked for quite a while because I did not want to present anything to all of you that was not complete. Today it is. Please take a look at the solution I am proposing to many of the complaints about the politician tree and Mayors being irrelevant or nothing more tha glorified individuals that place structures and set taxes. I truly believe this could work. I am on Shadowfire but it could be replicated in any Galaxy.
Today is my coming out party as Mayor and as an active participant on this board. I look forward to sharing this experience with all of you. Please take a few minutes to view what I have put a couple of weeks work into.

I am truly looking for your honest input on this CONCEPT. I just wanted to try and start something that could make it all more fun, make us more relevant and spice up the game for the players without waiting on the developers to do it for us. Thanks, in advance, for sharing your counsel with me.

Would like some input from others. Thanksto all the Mayors that haveresponded thus far. See website.
Interesting proposal. However, I think the devs should implement a planetary government along the lines of city government. The Military Governor would serve the Empire faithfully. No need for any kind of Senate or representative government.

PS: Outside of my Imperial biases, the idea does have merit and would be interesting.
Your Ambassador's council is a great example of something that players can do to add to the richness of the game for themselves. The developers of SWG always saw the game as merely a tool for players to use to build their own communities and shape their own experiences in the Star Wars universe, and I wish you the best of luck in your efforts here.
Is there anything you have to suggest that would allow SWG to support an idea such as this and help make it part of the game as opposed to a purely player-led effort?
Thanks bajeezus for the kind words.
I would most definitely prefer the DEV's put together a planetary council and some form of hierarchy within the game for player cities to associate (in some formal manner) with treaty options, reciprocal business agreements and such. I just didnt want to wait. I'm always one - rather than complain about the problem - try and fix the problem with the abilities that I currently have. Thought this might work.
And thanks to all the Mayors that emailed me. I never knew the SWG forums could be filled with such great people. All your suggestions are worthwhile and helpful. I would ask that you post them here as well.
And to "the man", the time you took to look at everypage in the website and the incredible length of explanations you wrote to me were invaluable.
Thanks again to everyone so far. Lets keep this discussion rolling. Its good debate to have.
Happy New Year
No, I am suggesting that we have a conference of mayors within our own independent galaxies to become more accustomed to those that put the time and effort into establishing player cities. There can be more value for the citizens and more relevance for the politician profession.
However, thats not a bad idea.
