Ok this is probably a noob question as I am fairly new at politician but can someone tell me where my taxes go???

they are not going to the treasury! Here's the thing there is no way to calculate sales tax, shuttle, garage, property blah blah but I know how many citizens I have and I know how much they pay in taxes so i should be able to look at the treasury funds prior to update and post up date and find the difference so I know whats what right?

Prior treasury= 2,850,000

city maint= 526,000

without tax= 2,324,000

so simple right

inc tax 2,000 @ 90 = 180,000

shuttle tax= 100 @ ?= ?

property tax=3% @ ?=?

sales tax=3% @ ? = ?

garagetax= 10% @ ?=?

to solve

2,850,000+

180,000=

3,030,000 subtotal

526,000-

2,504,000 subtotal

now post updatetreasury balanceminus 2,504,000 would give me what all the other taxes generated during the week correct? well, in SOE math that is wrong because my post update maint was 2,324,000 which means none of my taxes went to my treasury????

where do they go? am I missing something simple or is this a huge bug? because our whole town would be better off paying no taxes at all and just having everyone donate credits to the city!!!

Yep, there are some major issues (ie, bugs) with taxes. I've had several conversations with the CSRs, and they've looked into the logs and treasury activity and acknowledged that there is a bug, and passed along the info to the Devs. However, since they don't know exactly how much tax money was lost to the bug, they will not do reimbursements.. At least, none of the CSRs I've spoken to so far....

My advice: File a CSR ticket explaining the situation. Be sure to include your city name, and your above mathematical calculations as proof you are effected by this bug.

Maybe if enough people complain about it, we'll at least see some sort of reimbursement.

One thing that sometimes (though not always) helps for me is to change the tax levels. Switch the Sales tax from 5 to 4, the income tax from 2000 to 1500, etc. Sometimes (though not always) this jars the system just enough for it to work for a little while. Then it breaks again.

Good luck, and I'd be interested in hearing how any conversations go with the CSRs.

thanks jasper I'll do them all although i have already filed a ticket (what a pain in the crack that is now huh?)

My whole point here is where are the credits going if not to the treasury?? Why wouldnt I just scrap the tax system all together and just have people make donations which, apparantly what the city is living off of now?

If you're not getting Income Tax, that money is likely vanishing into thin air.

If you're not getting Sales Tax, there have been some reports that this money goes to the vendor owner. Although I have seen this money vanish into thin air as well.

Yes, if your taxes are NOT going into the treasury, it might make sense to just turn them off. I'd suggest turning them back on every once in awhile though just to see if they miraculously start working. Weirder things have happened.
