Okay, here's the deal. The mayor of our guild city turned out to be wishy washy, so I'm going to get politician so I can run against her. The thing I'm worried about is, how do I get politician xp? Is there any other way then votes? And we have trainers, a mission terminal, etc... will those disappear if a lower ranking politician comes into office? I'd appreciate any help and advice from you guys.

The only way to get xp is by getting vote. You will get 100 xp for every vote you get (even if you don't win).

Items will not disappear once you become mayor as long as you don't try to move them, or alter them in any way. Example: if a garden is in place, just leave it. It stays even though you don't have the skill to place one of that type or size. Same goes with city specializations, trainers, mission terminals, etc.

These will remain and be just fine as long as you don't remove them. You can only place what you are able to based on your skills in the politician tree, but anything already there will remain so long as they are not tampered with.
