Thread: I have a request for city defence.
Ok first time poster andI read alot on the top. In wanderhome rebels out number imperials but alot! And you know what im a imperial in a imperial city and we like it. I don;t care about rebs attackin all the time it's fun. But we need help. I don't want to igore them, I want to attack them. Yah there are more of them but still i want to defend my city.
Ok now to the point. NPC's Mayor's should be able to pay for npc security. If your netural buy those security gaurds you see in NPC cities. If your imperial spend a little more money and get storm troopers. If your rebels you can spand a little more for rebel troopers. And if you want you can mix the nutral ones with your faction ones. Give them names and change there uniforms. That would be great. The npc's would never attack but if someone attacks one of them they all attack. Also if a citizen attacks someone they will al attack too. Second i know that is what imperial hq's are for, but those are never anywhere near the main part of the city and are so far away. Also nutral cities or mixed cities can not get them.
Second city halls ahould be able to declare a faction and/ or a guild affiliation. So if you declare imperial all you citizens must be imperial. If your city is rebel all your citizens may all be rebel. If your nuteral then delare no faction. Also about guilds that would help with guild wars.
Next I think sturcture should be able to be attacked. And i have a good way to do it. When they attack your home for say. It will lose xp just like a speeder would but of course much slower and the house would have much more armor. Next you can fix the house with matinance payments. If the house is diabled instead of destroying it you just can no longer enter the building, intill you pay the matinence fee.

The downside to them being faction based is that you would draw the opposing faction to farm your guards which could get costly if you are buying them.
Perhaps they shouldn't be factioned based guards then. Like Bespin had a secuirty force that neither Rebel or Imperial. Perhaps what we need is a City Sercurity Force made up on NPC's that are controlled but either the Militia or the Mayor or both. They could become part of the city maintence.

However, a way to tie it in without having people come farm your city is simply that the guards and fortifications paid for by the city are worthless in terms of faction points. You kill them, you get nothing. No FP, no items, no $$, no nothing.

Not to let you out of the loop but we already have a way to gind fp. Im Imperial and my city owns a rebel base. We grind it all day. Everyone is doing that now.
But what you guys need to figure out is a way for us to defend our city. What we need a are walls. In pre launch were told that we can plae walls with gates and turrents and things. If the mayor can place these walls and gates with fp that would be great. With troopers gurading the inside. Allow the gates only to be accessed by faction people. Or special passes given out to people to hold. Also the walls muct be placed in the city limits of course not too allow grifitng.
Also I have a question of the devs do thye right the code or are they desiging the game? Or both? Because some times it feels like the devs do not know anything of the starwars universe. Like with the death bunker an Imperial general asked me for the blood of the leader so they may have a new batch for troopers. Which make no sence because the troopers of the trilogy are not clones.
But back to the subject this game is not to drown us in what is set but to make our own legends and stories. MY PC city vs other honestly is alot more Fun then being in this huge emptey theed doing nothing. And if we are allowed to shoot off the balconies that would help city defence.
Oh that would be great for cities. Guard towers, just like the type in the Imperial outpost in dantooine. There you go allow us to fortify our cities like the Imperial outpost. That will make them our new battle feilds. Like only commandos can blow up walls. And smugglars neeed to slice the gates to get inside. And make the towers diffrent hights. Like one so high that only riflemen can use it and only file men can shoot back up and again smugllars slice the door to get in. See I can think up of great ideas all day but because I do not have a degree in writing code I do not know if you can do all this or not.
I love my player city and my guild is great and is the honestly the only reason any of us are still playing. This game was about us working together and making our own legends. But when you waste time on dungens that pople only do for the loot why do it? When you raid another city you get nothing. But the greatest loot of them all braging rights.

All right I know how to make it no grifitng.
Cities may not be close to toher cities correct?
Well when we level to a new rank the mayor may with fp buy a wall with gates.
It will just be placed around the city. And for every city rank up we can do it again and again and again.
If peoples house are in the way it gives you a warning and then you go ahead and find the person ans ask them too move. If the walls and gates were in the raidus as the city limits there would be no grifitng. Now for what the mayor may do is. But the wall off course. Then with money or fp buy more gates (there will be a gate at the start) add towers and such. It would be great!!! Remeber in Kotor all the ways you can sneak into bases. Use the same cool ways. Honestly I see no grifitng and I do not see any problems. And how would it bother the server?! All it is are walls with gates and the gates will just be closed. Honestly I do not see how it is any diffrent the the ideas off he basic house.
