Can I just confirm: If there's only one mayor incumbent, are votes recorded for him automatically, or does each citizen have to physically vote for him?
Thanks.
Thanks.

yes, if no one registered on the ballot against the current mayor, he will be reelected automatically...
if someone register against the mayor, the mayor got all vote by default at first...

any vote from a citizen will continue going to the last person voted for, ad-infinium.
The following assumes that unless stated nobody changes votes, and nobody joins or leaves the city.
So if politition A gets 10 votes week 1, and nobody leaves, or changes votes, he'll get 10 votes week 2.
if Politition B gets 3 votes in week 3, and politition A gets 7 votes in week 3, and Politition B never runs again, and nobody changes votes or leaves, in week 20, A will get 7 votes. I presume that B will get 3 votes, but I've not confirmed that.
If in week 21. Poli B gets 5 people to join the city and vote for him, Poli b gets 8 votes, and A gets 7 votes, making B the Mayor. week 22m B gets 8 votes, and A 7
In week 22 politition C switches his votes from B to himself, so A gets 7, B gets 7, and C gets 1. B remains mayor as ties goes to the incumbant.
In week 23, A and C drop politition. B gets 7 votes
In week 24 somehow B managed to get the 8 people that voted for A and C to vote for him, giing him 15 votes
In week 25, B wants to resign in favor of D. D must get 8 voters to switch to him to win, or bring in 17 new votes, or some combination thereof to get more vots than B.
Can we please sticky this answer someplace or put into the FAQ since it gets asked every bloody week?

Warning: There was a bug a few months ago that if your two mayors tied, they may switch incumbencies. This happened to our city a while ago. Our two mayoral candidates tied for an election. The incumbent still won, but the incumbency tag switched to the challenger. Thus, by default, all the votes went to her instead the following week.
Just thought I'd put this out there for you all.

this is the worst bug in the game in my opionion! it should be more fluid then that. POLICITIANS SHOULD BE MADE TO GET OUT THE VOTE! if you want to keep your job it should be required that you convince people to go vote for you! we were stuck with a mayor who was quiting the game and the politician running against them had a 130 vote deficit to overcome, with only about a current active member ship of about 30 in the city.We could have lost the entire city by not being able to unelect the mayor who had quit. it should be a monthly vote and all votes should be earased each election!

Well when the mayor is unopposed there is no point to voting every week. If he is opposed there is no notification of that fact either to him or the citizens. This is bad. If the votes didn't count automatically for the incumbent then someone could steal an election pretty easily.
