Thread: Having trouble placing a Cantina

Hello more experienced Political types, having a very stressful problem here, hoping for some quick help.

We've got a Master Musician with 8 free lots trying to place our town's Cantina, but he's getting nothing but red grid. There is plenty of room, we're a village, so cleared for a Cantina, and the ground is able to be built on. He's got zoning rights, from the Mayor themself, and quit frankly, I'm out of ideas.

If the ground isn't flat 'enough', it's insane, cause it's on one of the flattest parts of town, and the Town Hall didn't have a problem, and it's right on the edge of a gully. Plus, I've seen Cantina's on MUCH more sloped ground, giving them huge ramps up, somethimes high enough to give the ramps a turn to them...

I'm trying to get a CSR to actually come take a look at it and offer some suggestions, but that's like pulling teeth.

I've even double-checked the deed to make sure it's fine, and still nothing but red grid.

Please help, I'm about to start ripping my hair out here.

Thanks,

We had a problem placing ours as well. The spot we had picked out ended up not being large enough. Cantinas take alot of room. I would have the person see if they can get a green zone anywhere to eliminate that as a problem.

All checks except land checks and city checks and are performed before you go into overhead view. City checks are performed AFTER selecting a green lot and clicking on it. Therefore this is not a city rank restriction, lot restriction or a skill restriction.

What you are dealing with is an available land restriction. I remember having trouble placing our cantina as it's not very slope tolerant and it's rather big. If you don't have enough contiguous flattish space free, it'll be red on the map. Best way to validate this is stand out at the edge of the city and try to place in the empty land outside (it won't let you, but it will turn green to indicate you passed land-checks)

There was an issue a while back where decorations (statues, lamps, etc) could cause a nonbuildable area to occur. Check the surrounding area for those - including inside of houses nearby. That may be the cause of this.

Ours is right behind the city hall so it can't be an adjacency issue.

Same with our cantina, about 25m away from city hall.

Well, as I said before, there's plenty of land to be built on, we cleared a huge chunk out to avoid this problem.

I'm left thinking it's too close to the town hall though... I remember a similar problem in November when i placed my old Cantina, the first spot right across from town hall wasn't able to support the Cantina, but was good building ground. Can anyone say their Cantina is within 50m of their town hall, or would it be in land received when the upgrade to village came in or further out?

Thanks for the suggestions, we'll be doing some more PitA moving around tonight, and with any luck, be able to find a decent spot for the place.
