While reading up here it seems there are alot of problems with cities and they seem to be getting ignored.
As a person who lived threw this game from launch the one thing i've learned is the Dev's are very slow fixing anything add to that the fact that he dev who is in charge of cities has been moved to the expansion.
This move worries me alot because of a little thing called experiance.I have heard everything or at least i thought so till this dev shuffle. As someone who loves this game and really want to see it work properly this move bothers me more then anything else I've read. I have to agree with sevral of the threads I've read that say this is at least a 8-9 month delay(due to the large amount of bugs that will come along with JTLS)on fixing what seems to be a very large collection of bugs. That is just plain horrible and should have never been allowed to happen. Please corrospondant you must do something about this beg plead cry shout whimper do what ever is needed to get the dev back on this proff or as i know from waiting for BE to get fixed we will fall into a pit of problems.

From having talked to the dev(s) at Fan Fest and attended the Politician/Player Cities forum there, I think I can offer a little ray of hope for you.
From everything that I saw at Fan Fest and from this particular forum, I can assure you that bugs are being worked on. The devs haven't stopped working on fixing the bugs in the present system, just that there are no plans to add Player City content as a stand-alone revamp or addition. There are some fringe plans to include player cities in the upcoming GCW, but to what extent this will add direct content to Player Cities is up in the air.
So, I really don't feel there is any cause for alarm, even though in essence, yes, we are being shunted aside a bit for JTL and the big upcoming revamps. But, I don't think our cities will suffer unduly from it, since our bugs have been noted and are on their fix lists. Just that we can't count on anything new for the player cities that doesn't relate directly to the upcoming publishes.
If you like how your city is working as it is right now, then the only thing you need to worry about is how the new publishes will affect it (if at all). But for now, the cities are functioning and working pretty well to bring people together, at least IMHO.
Also, when it comes time for the cities to receive some love, I guarantee you it'll be good stuff. The panel that ran the forum at Fan Fest was enthusiastic and motivated to bring Player Cities new content and upgrades of old content. You could see how excited they were, and how much they wished they could give even 5% to player cities, but it's just not in the cards for now. With a little patience, we'll see good stuff.

I heard all the real devs went to EQ2 and some middle devs went to JTL and that we have new devs doing SWG fixes. I mean their are so many problems and so many issues why don't they just fix what we have instead of make death watch bunker or corvillain corvette. Cause I would reather have working cities and many bugs fixed insteead of Mandolenian armor or a nice looking speeder. But who is to blame for all of this is SOE. Cause we all knew the game wasn't ready at beta, we all knew this game had many more bugs to fix. Because SOE pushed us out the dooor just so it can be released in summer and not fall we are so behind. Yah they made their money but most of us are kind of misreable. And numbers are dewindaling and people I know are leaving and now my server is getting empty. So one day when you all deside to listen to the consumer and not just think you know what we want this gamewill work. What we wat is for you all to fix thebugs and all the proffessions. Then fix up the tools to all proffessions, then make it worthy to fight this GCW.

You know as buggy as things are I really have to agree with the person that says it takes the people and the mayor in the city to keep things together. The bugs won't drive people out - but lack of community will.
We are a small city just south west of naboo and I won't deny that our beginning days were not fille with a bit of drama... can we get 10 people to declare in 24 hours. To be honest our goals for a city were not much more than having an outpost and a small diameter of saftey around our dwelling spaces so that we were not getting aggroed.
The wow - we became level 2 and now level 3. It takes alot of work - to get people involved - keeping them involved - but when you have a good group of people that you spend alot of time with the rewards of Mayor pay off big time.

I don't have too many complaints about player cities nor the politician profession as it currently stands.
But the way I see it (I've mentioned it a number of times already), it's the hard work of mayors and PA's that keep Player Cities running and keeps theolder players and helps the new players get involvedand stay in/with the game. I don't see why it's SO expensive to maintain a player city. We have 65 cits, 2000 tax, 200 speeder repair and 100 shuttle and it mainly cover approx 50% of the city cost of 380k. That's a handicapp.
Second, there should be more things that Mayors can add and be able to settaxor surcharge fee on. For example, a percentage of profits from mission terminal within a player city should also go to the treasury to help support/offset these cost.
And lastly, there are things, structures etc...in NPC cities that should als be able to be had in player cities.
That'll do as a start..lol
