From recent experiance I can confirm city hall will go POOF!
best just to get the new mayor to win the election, wait 24 hours and THEN let the old mayor delete.

You will lose everything that the mayor owns including the city hall, shuttle, and your city.

there s still a high risk that the city hall goes poof even after you have a new mayor when you delete the old one
cause it seems in many cases that the building (city hall) stays tied to it s owner (the one who set it)
there s some confusion about it. In some cities it worked, in some not

What will happen if I delete the current mayor?
Will it make the mayor that is running on the ballot with the most votes the new mayor?
Will it delete the city hall?
Does anyone know how this works?

Ifyou delete your char, while your char is still a current mayor, the town will go puff - if you wish another char or another citizen to take controll of your city as the new mayor, wait untill the election is over and the new winner has been declared.
as said, otherwise, cityhall/city puff, dead

Thats what I was afraid of. Account is being rebilled tomorrow, was hoping otherwise, I guess I can have the char last one more month!

Personally I would wait till after a server reset to delete the old mayor. Our city hall didnt go Poof till a reset, so at server reset it should transfer over to the newmayor if it hasnt before.
(If city hall does go Poof, everyone inthe city has to redeclare their citizenship when you buy a new city hall.. so it can take a while to get back to where you where.. and all the city owned structures go Poof with it)

Are you talking about actually deleting the character? or just letting the account cancel? this is 2 different things. Just letting the account cancel without physically going in to delete your character won't affect city hall at all.
