The XP happens on the server re-start I am pretty sure.
It should come in with the city update after you get the "Election Over" e-mail, but it may require a server "pulse" to award the xp to you. Like joyride suggested, gaining other xp may speed it up for you. Sometimes there is a period of several hours while the update actually processes.
If you do not recieve your xp within 24 hours of the "Election Over" e-mail, you'll probably need to file a Customer Service ticket. They should be able to see what the hold-up is.

Ok, I'll try going out and killing something. It just now gave us the Server Pulse message, and also...I have a slight problem with contacting a CSR because the CSR that is on our server...CSR-P-M hacked onto my account while I was logged off and he actually logged my char in and moved her...this is NOT whet they are suppossed to do...so I do not trust him at all....Anyway May Icome back here and corrispond with you Khristen for help???

Occassionally the only way for a CSR to find out what is causing a problem is to look at the actual character itself. I don't know why they would have had to *move* you, though. I don't know all of the can and cannots of a CSR, though.
Just because you have a particular CSR assigned to your server doesn't mean that it is the only CSR that can address your problem. If you have an issue with your particular CSR, you should send an e-mail to [email protected] and request "Elevate to Supervisor" along with your issue in the subject of your e-mail.
You are certainly welcome to come here and ask your questions, but if there is a technical issue there is nothing I can do to help you in-game. I'm just a player like you without any kind of "special powers" in-game.

Like Khristen said, getting the political XP requires a server pulse. I simply sent a ticket to a CSR and he quickly did a pulse for me... didn't take long at all.
You might want to try it if you aren't getting the xp yet.

We had a city advancment and after it advance i did not recieve any xp. after about 3 hours of no xp shooting out I became frustrated and just thoguth I would go do some hunting. As soon as I killed 1 creature the xp poored in.
