Ok i've spent the last week in my city helping the mayor map everything, every buildable and non buildable square, every building, and distinguishing between gardens and other city buildings/houses. The idea was to replace structures and give the city a "city look". After completing the map (the whole900m diameter) it seems that more than 50% of the town is unbuildable. Meaning, our city will continue, like many others, to lookvery unorganized and discustingly sloppy.
I've searched through a lot ofposts and i havn't been able to find much on this subject.
My biggest question is, will there be anything done to allow more land to be useable around a city hall? Perhaps even terrain templates that you can pick from aterminal within city hall itself?I've very rarely come across a town that looks like a town rather than a mess! My complements to those that were lucky enough to pick nice areas to place their town and make it look nice.

Terrraforming is not something we will get. It causes too much strain on the database and people's systems to alter the base terrain from the hard-coded stuff.

Large areas of my city are unbuildable too. You have to learn how to deal with and build around those areas in an organized fashion. One thing we did was make "districts." We have entertainer, commericial, business, and other districts. They are properly named with lamps and such. By having districts it makes visitors think the large gaps between areas are there on purpose. Also we turned a large are of our city into "Remembrance Park." It has small park were we could build, lampsand fountains to show the name of the park and give it the feel, and statues of people who have left and are worth remembering. Almost every unbuildable area has a why that you can use it. Just be creative and optimistic.
