What happens if I drop the politician profession complete when I am the mayor of the city. There is another guy who's running for mayor at the Voting Terminal. But He only has 3 votes and I have 32. Does he becomes the Mayor if I drop the profession?

Im curious of this as well. Im about to resign as mayor of my city and I was told the only way to leave is to either destroy the city, or have the citizens vote for someone new.

But what happens if there are 3 other guys running for mayor. They each have a set number of votes.

Then I destroy my politician tree. Who becomes mayor?

Is it the one with most votes? Do I lose mayor instantly upon giving up politician?

I got a guy in my PA, he was the mayor of a diff city, technically still is, but has declared residence in our city, not sure if city hall still counts him as mayor, but he has all mayoral powers still, last we checked

nobody from the test server can answer this? I figured yall would have tried it.

Ok update: I just surrendered all politician skills, plus declared residency in a house outside my city. Yet Im still mayor. So I figure one of two things are gonna happen:

1) Ill be replaced by the politican with the most votes after me when the next voting goes through, or

2) Ill still be mayor yet again and will be forced to destroy city hall.

THIS IS JUST RUMOR!

I have read on a few places that the correct process to give up Politician is to make sure someone else wins before you give up the profession. If you win and are longer a Politician the city will poof. Let me be clear - I have only read about this and do not know it as fact.

I too have read the same thing on these forums... but no official word... maybe they are holding out in telling the truth on this in order to cycle through new cities...

that's not a fair comment but you guys know where I'm coming from here

As a member of a city where the politician surrendered all skills but still retainedthe Mayor positionwe have had these problems:

1.) The cloning center no longer appears as a choice if you die before you are able to clone in it. Example: You are running to your city which is 5km from the nearest starport. You get jumped by meatlumps who take your wallet and kill you about 1km away from your city. When the window appears to choose what cloning facility you wish to respawn in you don't get the choice to spawn into your city cloning center, but rather the spacport cloning center. Ouch.

2.) The shuttle terminal and ticket collector protocol droid do not spawn at all in your city. You can take a shuttle in, your shuttle facility still appears on the world map (crtl-v) but you can't leave by using the shuttle. You'll have to foot it, use a mount or vehicle. Bummer.

In short, do not surrender any politician skills until you have voted in a new Mayor. It will save you tons of headaches and keep your city bug free.
