Thread: Filling the empty militia skillbox. Guard posts, and other random factional city thoughts.
I was wondering whether anything will be replacing the militia ability, or whether the skillbox will be empty for the time-being? I know garages are coming in, but not sure whether they're a mayor placed thing, or like Cantina and Med-centres.
If we can't have militia, how about guard posts. A little stand with a couple of your choice of rebel, empire, or local police (CorSec for instance). Low-end ones, though perhaps you could place better ones further up the tree. Police ones could be made by an architect. Maybe a modest amount of FP for the factional ones. None of the permadeath nonsense though.
These chaps would have the mission of defending citizens. That is to say, they'ed automatically take the side of a town citizen in a fight. It's make the town feel more populated, and provide a little security. They could even give generic quests. Maybe if you had multiple guardposts, you could set it so they patrol between them.
Being able to place other NPC types to give generic quests would be nice too. I know folks are screaming rightfully for information brokers, but the other sorts would also be pleasant.
I'm due to become mayor, with the rise in the city cap, of a pleasant little imperial village. I'm not entirely pleased that imperial mission terminals are a 4th rank skill. If making the GCW more obvious is important, it might be worth looking at that requirement. Still, thats life, and I'll get the skill eventually. I'm told some bases come with recruiters and terminals. If anyone knows which ones, I'd love to know.
It would be good to be able to show allegiance to faction though, even if only cosmetically. A statue of Lord Vader, or Imperial banners all over the place. And I'd love it if it started playing the Imperial march when someone crosses into town. ![]()
Been a while since I posted this, and I still think its not a bad idea, or at least worth some discussion, so I'll give it a gentle bump...
