Thread: Our mayor was destroyed by our city
I posted the following message to citizens of my city last night:
--------------- Begin Message ---------------
I regret to inform Kosatsu Falls that I'm going to be leaving SWG on January 25th, 2004 due to a personal commitment which will prevent me from being able to play for an extended period. I will be available until that time to handle transition to whomever is elected to fill the mayor position. Because of a flaw in the game design I'll automatically win an election if less than 50% of the citizens vote in the election. We will have to coordinate to make sure votes are actually cast for whomever runs against me. Note: another flaw prevents a mayor from withdrawing from the race.
A few pieces of good news:
- Any city feature already placed will continue to function with a novice politician as mayor.
- The loss of the ability to specialize until the new mayor has the skill to do so isn't too serious, given that every specialization except "improved job market" is being called unworth the cost by the posters on the politician boards.
- The town boards are not hosted from my home and will continue to be available for use by Kosatsu Falls.
--------------- End Message ---------------
What other steps do you think I can take to make the transition to a new mayor easy on the city?
well for one... giving all that power to a totally new person (with little time to do a "character check") is VERY risky.. there are soo many bad apples out there (if there wasn't.. we wouldn't have all these nerf cries wouldn't we? heh) I would highly recommend turning power over to a trusted player that might be able to sacrifice some points to keep the city running and hope to find a better player...
