We get only the rosey glow of completing the master box. No skills. No bonuses. No city specialization. Notta. There were a couple nice city specialiations available but they never made it into the game. I hope one day they will re appear.

aaah - a timely thread for me to ask this question ..... or more accurately describe a strange occurence and ask for clarification ....

Master Doctor in my city complains to me that I haven't mastered Politician so he is not getting the extra experimentation point now that we are a research centre - and basically wants to know how long before I master the profession !!!!!

Huh ? What ? I ask .........

Apparently this worked for him in his previous city and currently worksin another city on our server, where (I am led to believe) the mayor is a master politician and the are a research centre.

He has +100 in medicine experimentation, and swears blind he gets 11 experimentation points in this other city .....

So - has anyone else experienced this? Is this another case of hidden benefits to mastering a professions - like in smuggler where you get a bonus to slicing which is not listed in the master box.

I'd be very interested in an answer - as this might actually be a good reason for masterin politician .....

Thanks

What about answering the question right below Laeren's? Hmmm? Hmmm? Directly opposed to what was said at Fan Fest!

you're doctor is insane, tell him its time to take a break from swg for a bit.

research center only adds to the CHANCE of a better experimentation roll. (if you've never crafted, here's the quick version - when an item is created, crafters spend points based on their skill to improve the item. each time they spend a point(s) its a roll. that roll can be a critical failure, moderate failure, failure, success, good success, great success, or amazing success). The reseach center only adds 0.15% chance that it will be a better roll than without a research center. No 11th point to spend. Nothing you do as a politiician will give him points. he would need +111 to medical experimentation (via sea, apron, ect) to get that point.

I may be wrong, i'm only a master doc and a master politician....

please believe meI am a master artisan and master architect -so I do know something about crafting :-)!!!

I discussed these points with said doctor untill I was blue in the face (not a pretty sight !!) and his response was the same ....

So - is the consensus here that the "research centre" most definitely does NOT add to the experimentation points and only adds tothe percentage ?

I'll happily admit - either me or the doctor in my city are quite possiblyinsane -maybe both of us ? lol

but he is adamant that he has observed this phenomenon ..... and I know he is not stupid, nor a liar .....

sorry, wasn't sure if you were a crafter or not, so i tried to keep it simple.

it is not a plus to skill, its a passive factor, just like a crafting station. you will not see a skill mod on your skillsheet, and it will not add any experimentation points, only make spending the points you do have more productive (usually).

yes - that is my understanding of the Research Centre benefit .... I am now puzzled as to the phenomenon experienced by one of my citizens ......

oh well - it can't be as strange as not being able to find water (vapour)on Naboo or sunshine (solar energy) on Tatooine .......

the only thing i can think of other than too much brandy to explain it is this... even in a research center, the item crafted will still cap out based on resources, but if you had some monster rolls, it'd be possible to hit that cap on fewer points, creating an 'extra' point.
