can anyone tell me if there is a way to see if a particular planet is maxed out on player cities and their levels? Also does nayone have a general idea on big a footprint each city level creates?; i.e outpost=1000m square-metropolis 5000m square.....
Thanks for any help, I just started a new guild and want to create the city but waiting until I get at least 30 active. I have seen too many people get all excited to die off in a week's time!

I don't think you know unless you manually count how many cities are on each planet to determine if it is at max yet.
As for the raduis, look at the FAQ, one of the link tells you each city level rank equates to distance of land. Max is 450m for level 5 city i believe.

The player cities that are in the overhead map that are listed with an asterisk next to them, what exactly does that signify? Yes, I know they are player cities, but are they only a certain level of city? For example, if Correllia has 9 listed with asterisks does that mean there are only a total of 9 player cities founded on Correllia? Or does this mean there are 9 cities of a certain level on Correllia?

Your guide is very helpful, but it's also somewhat long-ish (nothing wrong with that), but as my eyes were glancing over it a few times, I couldn't see anything relating to my question. Quite possible I'm blind, it's very late.
But, can anyone just tell me what the asterisks signify...I actually tried skimming through the FAQ's and stickies, but I couldn't find it. Any help would be appreciated.

i'm not sure if I follow your question... but if it helps all city halls must be placed at least 1000 meters from one another... this leaves a 100m gap between the two cities if they both hit metropolis... i'm sure this is so the devs wouldn't have a situation of overlapping cities...
as to actual city level? its broken down in my guide but outpost is 300 meters diameter circular footprint... and metropolis is 900 meters diameter circular footprint (ie. if you run from one edge of town to the other in a straight line...
if you mean the number of "squares" on the overhead map each square is 8 meters by 8 meters... so you have 18.75 squares from the exact center of city hall in all directions for an outpost... and 56.25 squares from the exact center of city hall for an outpost... but the easiest way would be to open tiaga's map editor (i have it linked in my guide... its also stickied in the faq in these forums) and counting the squares for your city level...
hopefully something in that answers your question...

No...this is my question.
When, you're in game, and you pull up a map of any planet, and click cities, you find a list of cities on that planet. Now, the NPC cities created by the devs are listed first. Underneath, there is a list of player cities, all of which are signified as players cities because they have an asterisk next to their name.
My question is...are all of those cities the only player cities on that planet. Or, are the player cities listed only cities that have reached a certain level...say level 4 or level 5? In other words, what is the criteria for being listed as a player city on the planetary map?

the mayor must "register" the city on the map... therefore you can find player cities on the planet that are not on the planetary map...

Ah, I see, thanks.
So, basically it's true...we don't know if the planet's capped until we try to put down a hall and it tells you so.
Well, that makes things somewhat difficult and annoying.
Thanks.

usually a good way to measure this is to go on the planetary map and check cities, vendors, trainers, etc... keep going down the list and add any new locations as you go... then go wandering for an hour to the locations that are non-official cities to see if they're actual cities, or just communities... when you're done you'll have a rough idea as to how many cities there are... it might be really close or really far from the cap depending on the server you're on... good luck... by the way before placing you should read the recent thread with a question on citizenship by motrinIB... it could save your city hall when you plant...
