Thread: Plausible Solution To City Warn Command

Hello Plinka, (SOE)

Currently as we all know the "/city warn" command gives a citizen or visitor a TEF. Or until they leave the city radius and it's dropped from the offending player.

What if the "/city warn" command is retooled so instead of causing a TEF it will mimic a "/city ban" by booting the offender outside the city radius. (like an instant teleport) This city warn command can be lifted with the regular city pardon command, otherwise it can stay valid for up to a period of a real life 24 hours.

How would that sound to all of you?

Since right now if someone goes TEF they are booted out of public structures. This solution above would mimic that dynamic, but take it to the parameters of a "/city warn" command.

Oooh, that does sound like a viable option.

No, because it still does not solve the POI problem. Worse, this could actually trap someone WITHIN a POI, often a dangerous situation, if they cannot cross into the city borders due to a limited entrance to the POI itself, such as a cave mouth.

The Devs would also not go for it because it restricts access to a part of the game world to members of the community.

Personally, I like it, and would accept it if I had to, but would rather see /citywarn go back in.

Fixes

1) Citywarn is retooled for the min spec player having to load, receive warning, and leave a top rank town from near center.

2) Area 1-2k around POI is immune to city influence (i.e. no warnings)

3) Citywarn gives option to move warned player (choosable by warned player) outside city limits?? (don't know if it's easily programmed, but would limit time required for #1)

4) Ensure that cloning defaults to NPC City unless specified (yes I know it's on TC but won't care until it's proven in-game)

5) Turn /citywarn back on

The simple fix is to turn citywarn off.

The proper fix would be to turn it off if a city radius is withing X distance of a POI and solve the issue with clone center griefing.

But the Devs won't do the proper thing. They haven't yet anyway.

Do you really think the devs are reading this stuff. I don't know why I bother.
