Thread: A simple way to add walls a civic structure without having to worry about griefing...
In any case... This is a futuristic technological environment.. what good are stone walls with repulsorlift vehicles and thermonuclear detonation devices?
Yeah.. they're good eye candy
In any case.. another solution would be to have a wall option that would put walls totally around the city at a set radius and let you put in entry ways and whatnot at specific points. Instead of wall segments... allow the planner to only remove parts of the wall that's automatically generated in a given radius around a city.

Does't arches in every segment defeat the purpose of walls?
Only if all the segments are real small. If there are longer wall segments as options, you'd be able to keep the archways spread out, but still not completely close off an area. For example, there could be one segment that is say 50 meters long with only one arch way near one of the ends. By putting two of these segments together, one rotated 180 degrees, you'd be able to essentially make a 100 meter long wall while avoiding any griefing. I agree with you that a more advanced wall system would be nice, but such a system is going to require new coding, and I think the Devs have plenty of other stuff they'd rather do first. The type of walls I describedin my first postcould be added with the least amount of coding work possible. In fact, unless their development tools are really lacking, a single DEV should be able to add in walls like I suggested in less than a day of work.
