Hi all,

Let me first tell a possible senario:

A small player city (30 citizens) has accepted a new guild.

City is neutral, the new guild is PVP_REB , guild has 12 members (atm) and all are citizens.

latly thePVP REBguild, is showing signes of unrest and Miltant behaviour, and collides alot

with the open Neutral policy of the City, and its rebel and neutral citizens.

let me say that all other citizens are happy with the city the way it is, and WILL vote for current mayor.

now for some questions, and more senarios:

1) how can thePVP_REB guild take over the City ?(so we can learn and keep our town safe)

2) can thePVP_REB send a new mayor 10 mins before update to run against the current mayor (and have 12 votes against 0 of the current, which is slepping at that time) ???

3) what can a mayor do to keep his city ? (not being nice, or friend policies, real advise needed)

4) can a mayor/militia Ban other citizens ?

5) canmayor/militia kick someone out of the city ?

6) what happens to votes of people who didn't vote ? (when 2 are runing)

thanks,

Glad to hear your comments advice, we needthe help.

You (the PvP candidate)will need to place a candidate and get more votes for him than any other candidate. No majority is required, no run-offs, simply the candidate with the most votes wins. So you must eithertake votes away from the current mayor, get a third candidate to take away the current mayor's votes, splitting the 30 votes of the original citizens, or raise the population of citizens likely to vote for you to above 30.

2) can thePVP_REB send a new mayor 10 mins before update to run against the current mayor (and have 12 votes against 0 of the current, which is slepping at that time) ???

No. The result of that election would be 12 votes for the PvP mayor, 30 for the incumbent. Incumbent mayor gets all votes by default.

3) what can a mayor do to keep his city ? (not being nice, or friend policies, real advise needed)

A mayor can turn on the restrictive zoning policy, which would force anyone wishing to place a home within the city to seek the mayor's approval beforehand.

4) can a mayor/militia Ban other citizens ?

No.

5) canmayor/militia kick someone out of the city ?

No.

6) what happens to votes of people who didn't vote ? (when 2 are runing)

They are cast for the incumbent mayor.

Hmm so how does a populous protect itself from rogue mayors who blow the city hall at the first sign of a democracy welling up to depose them?

Too much weight, emphasis and powerseems to be placed on giving mayors authority & power, and none on the general populous who elect them. This isn't a fledgling democracy it's more like a fledgling fascism.

The flip side of the coin is to ask how does a city protect itself against rogue mayors who can blow the city hall in a second?

Simply, you build another city hall. It may hurt for a little while, but you'll be better off without the moron.

Or more importantly, You think long and hard who you want mayor before voting them in. If they are calm and level headed vote for them, if not, don't.

I understand your answer, which is precisely what the town in questionis now doing, but that is a fix to the symptom... What annoys me is there is no fix to the cause, which is a game mechanic where the residents have no protection from mayor's taking the ball home with them

and I thank heaven for our mayor who is sane and level headed

Just a thought here, but it seems to me the PvP guild in question joined the wrong city... it seems a bad idea to join a neutral city if you don't want to live in a neutral city. The current neutral residents outnumber you, and won't vote you in based on what you've said. If you did win, it'd destroy the city. They wouldn't want you as mayor with the non-neutral PvP policies, so you'd likely end up with twelve of you in the city. And the original residents going to found a new city, and vowing never to let another faction guild join them this time around. But this seems unlikely based on the numbers you've given. You'll more likely just end up living in the city, not being able to add the PvP defense you want, and hated by everyone else after the failed takeover.

It seems a easier, and more sensible, to found your own city. You have enough people, and could then have total control over what you did. They'd be no neutral residents to disagree with it. Or alternatively, find a PvP city of the right faction alignment that would accept you. It'd take some work to move, but in the long run, it seems much more plausible than a take-over in this situation.
