Thread: City idea 1: Mayoral input on automated messages
Hi folks,
I appreciate that after each election every citizen getsan automated message with the result, and also that placing a structure generates a similar automatedmessage. What I suggest is also needed is a way for Mayors to automatically send out pre-prepared messages of their own after certain events.
The two situations that spring to mind are:
1) Afteran election and any expansion in city bounderies: the owner of all structures included in the new radius (declared or otherwise) should receive an email pre-prepared by the mayor explaining the city's stance on taxation, factions, benefits etc etc. As things stand, new residents merely receive a scary-sounding letter mentioning taxes - hardly an inducement for them to stay if they've not been involved in a player city before! Our city is currently totally PA-funded and we run a zero tax rate and intend to continue thatuntil we leave the game. We're happyfor local residents to enjoy the benefits of the city for free, especially seeing as some of them may not have wanted to be included in a radius expansion in the first place and were just "swallowed up" as the weeks went by. If citizens/residents received a mail to this effect automatically, it would save the mayor from getting an awful lot of mail/tells from worried locals.
2) A similar pre-prepared mayoral email should also be sent to anyone placing a new structure within the bounderies, or declaring residence in their home for the first time.
Perhaps I'm wrong but this seems such an easy thing to add, and it would certainly save our mayor a lot of headaches. Perhaps a similar short message should be available to players browsing the city hall terminal and looking for a new home?Even just adding the city's current tax rates on the standard game-sent email would be a start.
What do you think?

What I do, is i wrote a pre prepared mail and sent it to myself, then forward in to any new members.
I do the same when running my guild and send out notifications, reminders and preparing events.
The less automated mail the better. My in-game mailbox is getting more mail then my external email these days. ![]()
Hello again,
It would be different in that themayor's pre-written emailwould go to all homes and structure owners within the city radius, regardless of whether they had declared citizenship or not.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding where mail addressed to "citizens" ends up, but I was under the impression it only went to the people who are "declared" citizens and who appear on the city list.
Anyone who is not a "declared" resident presumably just gets the current scary "you may be taxed" mail with no chance for the mayor to add any sort of personal message (unless theypick out the new potential citizens' names and write to them on an individual basis).
Also, surely the owners of harvesters/factories don't count as citizens for general emailing purposes if they don't also have a declared home nearby?
What we're looking foris a way to contact every person with a structure in the city radius - not just pre-declared residents.
If "citizens" mail does not got to everyone, itwouldn't be that hard to allow mayors to record a brief 50-word "manifesto" statement using the city terminal which couldbe read at the terminal itself and also sent outalongside election results etc.
Yours hoping for some insight!
