Sometimes it seems that this is all I do. That, and swap out trainers for other ones that are requested. I'm looking forward to hitting mater and let someone else take over the reigns of the city, though I'd probably end up taking a city council seat. All the fun of managing without the work of mayoring

Cheers!

Yep. What's nice about this profession is that it actually requires real-life political skills. One has to respond to various constituencies, sample public opinion on issues (what skill to get next, whether to pay for a Research spec, etc), deal with zoning, attract immigrants, worry about the local merchants, and engage in city planning and construction of your own -- placing shuttles, banks, decorations, etc. Pretty cool.

Yes, I spend most of my time doing emails, or answering /tells, dealing with politics, council issues, city issues, guild issues, you name it.

Cheers to everyone around who does the same job, good work!

Side question, how do you get your people to respond to your emails? Judging by the responses I get to issues, there are only five people in the city.

We had a forum of our own for issues where everyone involved could make suggestions or throw out ideas or vote on whatever poll we had going(forum is currently down though )

Other then going out of game to get responses, the best way I found in-game to get responses was show up at their doorstep with the TKM title(or a similar Master Combat Title) and tell them to respond...or else

Oh, yeah. Much of it is fun, but when the newbie population is all on at once things can rapidly degrade.

Noob - "I have a harvester."

Pol - "Great! Selling resources is a good way to make extra money!"

Noob - "Now what?"

Pol - "Sorry? Not sure I understand. Did you need a waypoint to a resource?"

Noob - "I don't know. What do I do with this thing?"

Pol - [feels a few hairs on left temple go slightly grayer] - "So you need help using the harvester? Okay, I'll need to know what kind it is and where you have it set up."

Noob - "I don't know! Its this brown thing in my inventory. There are different kinds?"

Pol - [has a sinking feeling his afternoon is being torpedoed] "I can explain it all to you, but I think I need to see the deed. Where are you?"

Noob - "I'm on Lok. I ran out of money to get the shuttle home, and I thought I would use this harvester to get some stuff to sell so I can get back."

Noob2 - "ths new gun i got sux i cannt kill evn parlopes w it!!!! why wnt ths thng wrk!?!?!?!"

Noob3 - "I can't find my house where did you put it?"

Pol - [bangs head on desk, double checks his available schematics for a "Gone Fishing" sign to hang on the City Hall entrance]"Hang on people, one crisis at a time..."

Based on actual events. Noob needed to get home and thought a harvester popped up resources like a pez dispenser (sent him a tip to get him back to Talus and spent a bit of time with him, the harvester, and the Holocron); Noob2 was given a used laser carbine he was not certified for and was doing only 10 points of damage a shot, and had combined that folley with not having cloned first before going out to use it; Noob3 may be a more than a little slow because he had simply forgotten which house was his - three times that same day - and needed to get taught how to use the waypoint system.

And as far as how to get the citizens to respond to your mail, here is my advice. Send out an email telling (not asking) the citizens that you will implement a given policy or take a given course of action in 48 hours unless you get enough feedback from them against it. When they do not like something they are likely to respond. When they care less you are not as likely to hear back from them. So you just make not responding to the email equivilent to their approval.
