Thread: Trouble with Math...
Right now we have 21 citizens total. Most of them have small houses. Two people have medium houses, one person has a large house, and one person has a guild hall.
How can I set up my taxes using income tax and property tax so that everyone pays equally? I'm totally stumped.
We're in a remote location and we only have one merchant, so sales taxes are out of the question.
Our city takes 71k a week in maitenence, and I've been charging 2k income tax, which gives us 44k a week, but there is still obviously a good hunk of change needing to be collected that I have to charge through income tax. 29k to be exact.
I'm really sorry to trouble you all with this, but I hope someone can help me. Thanks so much!
You cant. Property taxes will affect anyone that has a structure inside your city.
One idea is just to have everyone pitch in an extra 2k a week
I may be wrong here but it sounds to me like you have a small group of tight knit people comprising your city that have been adventuring together and now want a place to call home
. Anyway to the point, if you know all your citizens fairly well already I would suggest you just send out a mass email to them or talk to them in game explaining your situation with taxes. Once done then just ask them to all donate, say for example 10k to the treasury in city hall. This one time action would generate 210k additional revenue for your city and be enough to cover that negative 29k for an additional 7 weeks. If everyone in your community is honest and open minded as the ones in mine are I'm sure none of them will have a problem with this and may even donate more than you ask. I also had this problem after several weeks of making up the difference out of my pocket so I did what I suggested to you and must say that I'm now happy to report the coffers are well stocked for some time to come having generated over 2mil after I explained the situation. Good luck ![]()
