I know that minefields and scanners can be placed within town, but what about turrets? I would love my single faction city to be armed. I have tried placeing a turret and it seems to go fine until it tries to open the overhead terrain map and then it reverts back. I receive no message indicating that the action can not be performed and I was wondering if this was a bug, or if it was implemented this way. Whatever the case, there should be some kind of message when it's attempted to let me know if it's possible. Plinka, have you heard or asked anything about this?

They are because on Starsider the player city next to the krayts is Imp and placed turrents and covert scanners at certain locations of the city to pick off any rebels running through the area.

You can, but I wouldnt. The foot prints on individual turrets are so insane they would eat up most of your placement area

on the subject of turrets if they are placed prior to placing structures there footprint does not effect what can be placed afterwards. In other words you can place a house directly next to a turret after it is placed in advance its just hard to find a spot initially.

Along these same lines - if you are inside the city, do you need to have zoning rights to place covert scanners and mines?
