One of the major features of the Poitician profession that has been missing from this game that was implied or presented in the movies was the role that the politicians played in determining the shape of the galexy's structure.

In this world the politician serves as a glorified decorator, they place buildings, decorate them and place gardens and decorations in their city... thats about the extent that they have. There is no effect that they can have on the their planet or the universe, short of hiking up shuttle prices.

To help make the GCW something that seems more real I would suggest a system where each of the capitals of the various planets (such as Theed on Naboo) would have a position such as a Govenor, this official is elected by the various politicians of rank 2 or higher player cities. The govenor's responsibility is to work with the faction that controls the planet (in the case of Naboo, he would have to opperate within the imperial system). This would include determining which items are contraband. Each faction should have a list of items that it considers contraband, and the govenor chooses which ones to inforce... the more lax he is on the inforcement of the imperial/rebel/hutt/ect wishes the higher the taxes for his planet's player cities and the less protection they are offered by the faction as a whole.

This would open the door up for the GCW to have a bit of a role in the planets both now and even more so with the space expansion. Also if the smugglers are ever made to actually smuggle things the transmission of contraband items from city to city or planet to planet would be a viable and necessary service.

It would be tough to implement, but I do like the idea of a "Governer" of planets and/or regions. What powers these figures would hold is up for debate.
