I was just curious what my friendly Mayoral populous has done to keep their city financially afloat. Can you tell me a little about your city--like what levelit is, or the approximate weekly maintenace, and what kinds of taxes (and how much) you've implemented to keep your city out of the red.
I want to get an idea of typical averages because currently my city has no sales tax, but is living only because of generous donations by a few people. The merchants, though, are very angry at the thought of having even a 1% sales tax, so I'd like an idea of what everyone else here has in their city.

My city is a level 5 metropolis with 98 citizens. Our maitenance is about 550k a week and we get about 700k a week in taxes. Our taxes are currently 2k income, 5% sales tax (which our merchants don't mind) and 100c tax for shuttle. We are doing fairly well for being a city on Dantooine.

Lvl 4 city, 62 citizens, 400Kish upkeep costs.
Covered by 3% sales tax and 1K income tax, with 100 credits shuttle tax. And making some benefits over this, too. I started the sales tax at 5% and have been decreasing it when the city had bloated coffers. (More than 3 million credits now)

level 4 city. aprox 70 residents
2% sales tax, 100 on shuttle. no other taxes. never had a single complaint about sales tax, either from the vender owners or their clients.. 5% seems to be the average on my server, so they feel that 2% is a good deal.
400k a week in maint...
we get by on donations.. someone has a good week doing missions, then they put 100k in the kitty, someone sells 5 mill worth of resourses or something then they will put 200k in the kitty and so it goes on.. no one is required to pay... my residents all know that if they can afford to donate then they can, if they cant afford it then no problem.
5 mil in the tresuary to date and still going up weekly.
