Face it, when going up the city ladder, city upkeep becomes such that there's only one way to keep up: sales tax. So long for the mayor to have decisions to make to balance his budget, you only have that answer to make a city pay for itself.

Sure, you can have hunts to generate money for the city, but this has nothing to do with mayoral abilities. The problem is, I'm at a loss to find better ideas that would make the roads to Rome multiple, using city features.

Come up with some ideas guys!

Well I'd like to see a greater variety in the specialisations that lead to the way a city earns its money and defines its purpose ...

The Cloneingspecialisation should give some benifit to the player (10-15%) but also give some money to the city (~10%) ... using these numbers there wouldn't even be more money coming into the game (or less going out) than originaly planed by giving players a 20% refund.

The improved Job Market should not only give players a better mission payout (10-15%) but also give some money to the city (~10%)

A new specialisation (improved education) would grant you more slots for trainers and reduce costs for users (-10%) while also giving the city a shar (+10%) ... going into synch with the clone and job specialisation

Cities should be able to get their money through the Shuttle fees (so fix the reset to 100cr)

You should be able to get the money from you citizens without sales tax if you really want to (raise income tax to 5000cr ... a 100 people town could then get 500k income, enough for most metropolis cities)

Oh ... hrhr .. totaly missed the "use (excisting) features part

Well you could use the max income and max property tax giving you about 350k a week in a 100 people city (only small houses) ...

You could change the shuttle fee every day to get more income

... but that's all you can really do with the excisting city features :/

You can us city buildings to finance part of your city ... offer gardens statues fountains or lamps to well paying citizens that can use those structures or decorations to ad for their shops

since you can use the city hall and clonecenter as item storages you don't need any houses (2-6 lots) so you can set up more harvesters (rel. cheap BER 10 medium Harvies) and sell resources.

We're doing a racing event this weekend ... but with only about 20 people participating and overwelming prizemoneys of al together 1.8 Mio were not earning money, we're spending it.

best thig to keep a steady income is place a maintenance fee on your city structures, andy structure whithin the city limits wil pay a sertain percanage maintenance to the city treasury.

This keeps you, when with a large amount of citizens, with a steady income. Also place a fee on the shuttleport not a darn high fee like 500credits, but a simple fee of about 100credits. Make sure your city has got some Player vendors posted on the map, and let it build a reputation, people will spend money on buying a ticket to and from your shuttleport and this also gives you a random income. these are the basic lines of a city with no specials in it.

Just a Cantina, cloning center, bank, medical center and a shuttleport build the basic underground of the city. this keeps your city populated and brings business.

I hope this works for your needs.

Hmmmm, just to keep the htread on focus, I'm not asking how to make money, I can do that very well. Only, I have only one way to do it with the city I rule. (For the record, lvl 4, 62 citizens, 430K a week)

A 3% sales tax and 1000 credits flat tax are enough to bring the money in, and then some more. But I made some calculations, having no sale tax and maxxing all the otherswould still leave me short. Plus, citizensdo care about tax level, and to them a 3% sales tax is less than a 50% building tax, even if the actual amount isless. Numbers and appearances do matter.
