First I'd like to apologize, this isn't directly related to politicians but I couldn't figure where to put it now that the general swg discussion forum is gone.
This idea came to me because my guild and I wanted to create a city but none of us really wants to give up our current skills for the politician tree. So I thought what about adding "50 non-comabt skills points". Key thing is that it would NOT outbalance, just give players more diversity in their gaming experience. These points could only be spent in the following professions (and any of their advanced professions) : Artisan, Entertainer and Artisan.
Feel free to pass this over to other forums,or any ways that could promote this idea and have a chance to reach developers, i really regret the swg general discussion, and i know such an addition would make many communities happy, including the politicians.
Thanks for your understanding.

What about crafters? It basically just gives them another free profession. I"m a rifleman so I feel your pain but someone has to bite the bullet and sacrifice the uberness of their build. It would be nice if they used the "elite" skill point system over the novice ones for this but for some reason they won't. Oh well lets just hope that we can get pilot and a few gimme skill points with the SE.

Interesting idea, but I don't see it flying. 50 skills points isn't enough to master artisan, entertainer, or politician, takes 73 or 77. So 50 points wouldn't be that useful.
You have to sacrifice. I have had to give up all my scout and medic skills for politician. That is the way the cookier crumbles.

Yeah, this isa nice idea, but I don't think it should happen. Having different classes promotes interdependency. If this went through all of the combat classes could be self-sufficient to an extent, and that would just spoil the soup.

Upon second thought, this might not be that ofa good idea indeed : a master tkm / doc currently has 18 points left. With 68 points, this change could get him high in themusician profession which would hurt the full time entertainers.
Maybe these could 50 points could be politician specific ? In the ancient grece myth of Epimethe and Promethe (sorry i don't know the exact spelling in english) explained by Socrate, Zeus said the politician "skill" should be split equally among all humans whereas not everyone should have doctor skills or combat skills. This was the mythologic way of explaining the origin of democracy.
Back to the game, however, in exchange of these 50politician specific skill points, you should be forced to have Novice politician to be able to vote or be a militia member or even be a citizen of a city. As it stands players really have to sacrifice a lot to be mayors with little benefit for just an "administrative role" especially when the city isn't very "roleplay" and there isn't any meetings and city events organized.
