Thread: Mayor resignation idea
A) There is at least one other citizen actively running against the mayor.
B) One of those running against the mayor has enough politician points to cover the city basics ( Town Hall, Cloning Center, Bank, Cantina and Medical Center). Decoration type structures would not play a part in this.
B1) This also will revolve around what the current mayor has control of already. As an example, if the currant mayor can not place down a bank, the politician running against them would not need that skill either.
A) They will remain in office for at least one more voting process.
A1) This next vote will be for the citizens of the city to approve or disapprove of the mayor leaving.
B) The currant mayor must get at least a 51% approval rating during this process in order to actually leave office.
A) If there is more than one politician running against the current mayor that meet the requirements in sections1,A,B and B1, the one with the most politician xp will be the one who gets office.
Why try and make something that should be relativelysimple into something so complex?
Requiring that the next mayor have the same skill boxes in politician is too harsh. Why would they need it? The skills are one-offs, meaning that once you've used them there's nothing more to it.
For instance, the ability to place a bank simply means you have gain enough experience that the GPC has allowed you to place a bank within your city, it doesn't mean you have to retain that skill box simply to retain the structure itself.
And forcing the resigning mayor into retaining that position for two weeks simply to obtain a certain approval rating is yet more red-tape we really don't need in-game.
Sometimes the simplest ideas truly are the best: Give the current mayor the option to resign if, and only if, there is another citizen with novice politician running against them allowing that player to take over the position. Quick, clean, easy, and effective.

As far as I know, if a mayor leaves office and the new mayor does not have skills needed to cover what the first mayor has put down in the city, those items (decorations, structures or whatever) will cost the city a lot more money.
No, it doesn't. I know firsthand, I HAVE stepped down and the person who took over did not have the same skill boxes I had whenI placed the structures. In fact, I gave up ALL my skills with the exception of Novice prior to him taking over, and not a single item had a maintenance price increase at all.
So, why burden the city with more expense than is needed? Too me, mayor leaving by your method would / could create resentment. Sometimes the simple way is not always the best either. Besides, my way will add a little something to something that is already a very boring process.
There would be no resentment with the method I advocated earlier. There would be resentment with your plan in that a city would be in stuck in a needless transitional period which they may not want to deal with in the first place.
Keep it simple.
As long as there is another citizen in the race the mayor can resign. This should have been in the game since player cities was released.
