I am currently a 0321 politician, but i have over 60k unspent politician xp sitting around unused because the politician profession is somewhat fruitless.
Here are a few suggestions I think would make politician more useful. The current function of a politician is to swap out skilltrainers, and little else.
Things we NEED:
- A command which condemns buildings. When people become inactive or "move out" of the city and leave thier house behind, we have no means by which to remove thier house. This command would email the owner and tell them they had 1 week to move thier house. After a week, thier structure would be destroyed.
-A command which works like citywarn used to. Removing citywarn for everyone was a huge mistake.It should have been removed for cities who built over pois and abused it, not for th rest of us who currently have little recourse against tresspassers. We as a city pay taxes 400k per week to "rent" the space in which our city lies, we should have a means to control who enters our borders just as people have a means to control who enters thier houses.
-Kick Citizen command. This would be used to remove unwanted citizens from the cities ranks.
-Taxes that can be scaled to a reasonable level so that your city does not need survive on donations. Remove the cap on taxes all together. If a mayor wants to charge his citizens 10k per week in income taxes, and they dont mind paying it, then he should be able to do so. This is a critical flaw in the current system.
-Terraforming. This is also a MUST HAVE. Mayors need the ability to "flatten" land whithin thier city limits to make it useable. "Flattened" land would conform to the level of the city hall. This would do well as a master politician skill.
-Wall Segments! There needs to be a placeable "wall segment" to control where someone can enter your city from. The big "exploit" that has dev's crapping thier pants over this is that "what if people use walls to completely circle thier city so noone can enter or leave?!". This is a weak concern at best. Walls could be given a footprint just like a house so that they could be made not to overlap, or to form a complete "ring" around a city. There is no excuse for the devs not adding in these sorts of features by now, other than laziness and shortsightedness.
-Bridges. Many cities have rivers near them, so why do we not have bridges?
-Pavement. Why cant we pave our streets?
-Faction affiliation. Currently the only way to have a "faction affiliated city" is to make sure everyone in town is of the same faction, but I am talking about npc's. There needs to be a way to cause stormtroopers and rebels to spawn at random in cities without the use of faction bases.
-City halls need to be made into "citizen only" structures. Raiding enemies are able to hide and buff and heal etc in a city hall which is less than acceptable.
