And the reason it's a fairy story.. 3 weeks ago, I'd posted about Shuttleport Spacing - http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Politician&message.id=23589

At that time, 9 Shuttles exsited on Tattooine, mostly clustered in the Southern quadrant.

And, for the last 3 Weeks, we have "hit the cap".. according to the Planetary Authority. So, theoretically, there are no lvl 3 cities "moving up", correct?

WRONG.

As of today's count, there are 11 Shuttleports on SS Tattooine. At least one that belongs to a city that placed later than us.. so obviously someone's been getting promoted.

...and of course, in the Southern Quadrant.. where we have *so* isolated cities.. and *such* a need for more shuttleports..

While we sit in the NW wilds all alone. . and I have to listen to the constant barrage from townfolk and tourists alike...

"Where's your shuttle at?"

And they lived happilly ever after.

The End (?).

hmmm this sounds so much like my thread that I was told I was whining about, we are currently showing 9 shuttles and wondering if now will get 11 as well...

I posted awhile back about something like this, but noone noticed. :/ Maybe I should have named the thread differently.

My basic theory when it happened with us, is that when cities update at the same time and a main city falls, all the elligables in that update cycle get updated. So if two cities update a minute before the rest, those two would both get rank four, even if there's only one space free. It doesn't seem to handle the simutaneous updates very well. The threads probably still findable if anyone's curious about the details.

Well.. as a sequel to this story: Just heard back from CS.

and the verdict is : "We don't know how the server chooses to update PCities; maybe they update from south to north (which would explain the large number of cities in the south) .. "

??

Truth is stranger than Fiction.

Firstly, that Customer Service rep should have known better than to add that "maybe" and provide more fuel for a topic that is close to the hearts of cities that are stuck on the cap. The correct answer was "I don't know" and should not have been confused by adding a maybe, since that person is a representative of the company whose words are sometimes the only ones we get from the "company" on the question we are asking.

Being a simple player though, I am free to add my theory without worrying that anyone will take it as truth

I would guess that the way it works when a city falls, is that the next city to go through an election cycle checks against the cap, finds there is a spot and advances. So even if you placed on Tuesday, a level 4 city drops on Wednesday, and the next city to go through the election cycle gets the spot, even though they placed after you.

As for the 11 shuttleports, I'd agree with the other guess. When player cities first came out, I noticed that the first five placed on my server standardised to the exact same second of update, implying that updates occur at spaced intervals. I would guess if two cities are in the same update interval, it checks against the same cap data for both, without considering each other. So both go up.

I mean, if they haven't even made the code subtract the level 4 city looking to advance to level 5 from the 4+ cap, its very plausible that they wouldn't have made the code consider other cities applying for the same spot.

I have seen this problem on at least one planet in Scylla. Naboo, if I recall correctly.

I am prone to ignoring people who I find annoying, both in the game and on the forums. If it seems like I am not responding to your posts, it is probably because you have very little worth saying.

There are several reports that cities that "fall" do NOT lose their flag that allows the higher rank. Thus both the "fallen" city and thefirst promotedcity can achieve the higher rank.
