Thread: Have we got ANY explanation on how the inactivity rule works yet?
Honestly, I don't think the TC tweak has anything to do with LIVE. You don't often see "Temporarily" attached to TC notes.
Worse case is they (SOE) are perfectly content with the way it is working on LIVE, and they have just diabled it on TC to presever the cities there, so they survive to test other PC changes.

Karquile,
If that were all it realy did, and it worked, then they wouldn't be taking it out on test center.
Our city just lost a bunch of people (dropped from just over 100 to around 90), and we know of some that play EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Yet another stupid system, poorly implimented, poorly tested, and nothing but more problems for their users.
There is a good reason there are so many inactive accounts these days ![]()

Sounds like you had some dual citizens. Those that you know play alot, and have houses in your city, can be easily regained. Just have them re-declare. In some cases, just walking into their homes is enough. Beware of the later, though. The mayor will not get a notification. They will just quitly be added to the citizen roster.
I have not quite nailed it down, but I believe it has everyting to do with the lost citizen still having a house in their previous city, or perhaps another house anywhere. If they have no other house, then it seems that just entering their city house is enough. If they DO have another house, then they must re-declare in your cities house.
This is a one time deal, as the 6-week check will also boot them out of their previous city, with whom they have been "sharing" citizenship. They will no longer be a dual-citizen, but will only be a citizen of your city.

I don't know where or what you've been checking, but:
1. It's just been disabled on the current Test Center build, perhaps with a view to a hotfix in Live to match, so no matter how it works today, it's going to stop working soon, and they will probably tinker with how it works before they reinstate it.
2. After the election is complete and your city rank calculated and maintenance assessed etc, a check is run on each citizen in your citizen list. If their time of last login is more than 6 weeks old, or if their most recent declared residence is outside your city limits, they are dropped from the citizen list and you get an email.
3. To reverse the effects of the timeout, the player has to log in AND redeclare residence at their house in your city.
4. That's it. If you're thinking of asking "But does X also happen?" and I didn't mention it above, the answer is no.
Either this is not the way it is done, or there is a bug. I have lost people that I know for sure are active and people who have been on days before the city update.
Why do the devs waste time with things that aren't broken and concentrate on the things that are... Such as content or SOMETHING for Master Politician. Maybe this is there way that they won't have to deal with M/Pol if there aren't enough citizens?

"So just seeing them active in the game doesn't automatically mean that the inactivity timeout (now disabled, as noted) was bugged."
Ok.. lets be honest here.
Yes, it DOES mean its bugged.
They were not "Inactive", therefor you shouldn't get a message saying that they are.
If you are right, and they are being dropped for dual citizenship etc, then that is what the message should say.
