What's so great about the Politician profession? Basically, it gets boring. The Politician profession is way under-powered, if you can say that about a non-Combat profession. It's a profession that people have to buy an Alternate Character for.

Proposal:

When a Rebel or Imperial aligned City is "Under Construction," the opposite Faction usually places "Grief" houses in order to deter the growth of the City. I've ticketed this, and the response of a CSRwas something along the lines of: "No one owns the land." That's not true in a real City. Politicians need more power. They should have the Ability to strip someone of their Citizenship, so the person can be banned from the City. The main fear of Cities when a "Grief" house has been placed is whether or not they should grow. If they do and then place Rebel/Imperial HQ's, their turrets will be stripped almost every night by the Imperial/Rebel Citizen because they can keep Cloning over and over again and little by little take the turret down. Say a City is owned or operated by a certain PA, and they remove a Member that really isn't fitting in. Well, they're pretty much screwed if that Member decides to go Imperial and get back at them.

This leads me to my Second Point. Banned Players should not be able to Clone or Shuttle into a City they've been banned from. Currently, I believe it's not a bug, Players who have been banned from a City, but pay to Clone therebefore they get banned can keep Cloning there over and over again until they change their Clone Center. This system helps Rebels/Imperials do what I said in the last paragraph, take down turrets little by little by Cloning over and over again.

In order to defend against Griefing houses, a Player City should have some sort of defense. My suggestion is that a City have a set 450m radius of protection for 6-7 weeks. This would allow1 to2more weeks for the City to get Level 5. The City, however, would not have all 450m as the City. If the City is Level 3, with a 300m radius, it'd just have a 150m radius called the Protection Zone. People who had their houses in that area already, would not have their houses removed since they were there first.

Example:

A Rebel City Hall is placed. Imperial Griefers want to mess it up by placing houses within 101m of the City because it is at Level 1. They cannot do this because the City has a 350m Protective Zone for 6-7 weeks, allowing them to get there before Players can start griefing the City.

Suggestions, Comments?

What is so great you ask?

SERVING THE CITIZENS who chose to move into your city. As Mayor you dedicate your time to better the time they spend online playing. If you take on being a mayor make sure its something you realy wish to do.

It takes time and patience lot and lots of patience. we are talking dont plan on leaving your city very oftern dedication here. When I am online i am making sure that all my citizens are happy. I place trainers, mediate over desputes, muster troops when the allience needs us. Being a mayor is a total sacrifice to your fllow player. Taking on the job of Mayor for personal gain will get you voted out faster than anything. Dont be a fly-by-night mayor you and your citizens will be in for a big let down.

Being mayor requires the individual to be TOTALY SELFLESS and dedicated to providing the baset virtual town for your citizens to live in. When I am on I persaonaluy stand by my shuttle greating people and attending to thier needs in fact you must pretend you are not a combat char anymore even though i do find time to myself to get some leveling done. And you had better plan on mastering Poli if you take it cuz your gonna need to to attend to all the citizen requests.

Good luck on your choice

Well, see, the main point I have in my post is that Politicians need more power. Player Cities are too vunerable to griefing. Politicians should have the power to counter this.

I can't believe I'm saying this.....I AGREE WITH A REBEL....

It seems my city is having the same problem as Eskral. Doesn't make it right, though.

Our city too was being griefed day in and day out...my power came when I askeds my citizens to simply stop fighting them....to simply go on hunts or wahtever and place them all on ignore...It worked, the Imperials that griefed us day in and day out moved on to another city with an absent mayor. If the citizens do not respect you as thier mayor then you need to find a different profession. Sometims you end up with an Asshat in your city. I have a couple.... The are best dealt with by your citizens instruct them to "Encourage" the offending person to leave. This is a game, even the asshats want to have fun so they move elseware. We may be lacking in actual /commands to run our city but with a little imagination, a shiny smile, and dedicated citizens then there is nothing you cannot accoplish.

Well, I'd say you don't need mayoral skills to serve the people and be nice to them. Nor to be a diplomat, which is a player skill, not a character one.

Politician is a building placement profession, taken by guys who have alts or don't need the points.

Best way to deal with the tall guys is to give them incentives to lick the ground. And dont look down on me that way youre not THAT taller.

Slugeater I love the way you are fishing for diversion.

Did your parents teach you that or are you a natural?

Why would you read the politicians forum if you disrespect the profession so much?

Why would you waste your time?

Why would you flame?

If someone places houses outside of your adminstration zone, no one owns the land. Not you, not them. So they have every right to place structures there as you do. Your solution to prevent griefing is griefing itself. All of sudden, well to do groups of people will drop city halls at random just to control 450m radius of land and control it for a limited time but have no intention of growing. That protection isn't fair to other players that are playing the game. You don't own the land, you are the administrator of town.

I will allow a mayor the right to strip people of citizenship if players get the right to assassinate politicians.

Your second point, I know nothing of this, but if a person has been banned from the city, then they should be allowed to use any civic structures, even if they have already purchased a shuttle ticket or have already cloned there.

Granting politicians more power? I'll give you a little quote.

"The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse." - Edmund Burke, 1771

and performed to a crowded cantina in Mos Espa.
I will use a respec and become an entertainer again,
pull out my last pet from my creature handler days
and dance in an empty cantina in Mos Espa and disconnect from the game forever.
