Has this been tested?

Does anyone know what will happen to the city if the mayor doesnt log in for 6 weeks?

I can tell you 6 weeks from now, but I would rather find out in advance.

Thanks,

Swiggy

Personally, my city would have voted him out after about week 3.

This city has everything, and costs 750K a week to maintain which the current mayor paid for several months in advance. No one wants to foot this bill, so no one will run for mayor. If someone does try to run for mayor with "I am gonna charge taxes", no one votes for him. So the current mayor, although not playing atm, is the best mayor for the job (considering the job doesnt require the mayor to do a darn thing except pay for the city).

But my question still stands. What will happen after 6 weeks?

If he paid in advance that means the money is alreadyin the treasury right? If it's not, he's not gonna be online to pay it anyway and you're already stuck with the bill.

Why would the new guy run under the 'gonna raise taxes' ticket? Can't he run under the... 'I'm actually a player that logs on and cares about the city' platform?

If you've got a 750k/week maintenance and citizens aren't willing to pay taxes..... your city is gonna get trashed (and quickly) once the treasury is depleted.

What will happen after 6 weeks? Never heard of this happening so don't know for sure (btw, the inactivity thing was 'temporarily' removed yesterday. I doubt the city will pop but who can say for sure. There has been no developer comment on inactivity nor has there been an expanded detail to the other surrounding questions involving inactivity.

The money is in the treasury.
The account that is mayor is my 3rd account.
I cancled it.
I can still put money in with my other accounts.

Totally in agreement with Kerico. 750k maintenance, holy Bajeezus, what was he thinking? What were the citizens thinking?

You will find, consistently, that I am very fond of flaunting the fact the Caritas no. 1 goal from day one was to be self-sufficient (pays for itself). To be any other way would cause my citizens to ask what happens if a mayor doesn't show up for six weeks.

I am certain that all of the city structures that are actually deeded to him will go if the inactivity rule is put into play, again. The inactivity rule will result in the mayor not being a citizen. The city hall will dissappear and the city will have to start back over.

Prepare now. Gather the structures, the xp and some money. Or have someone that is committed to the city and its improvement beyond level 5 and beyond Master Politician.

So it costs 750K a week. Thats a drop in the bucket. Many of us have well over 40 million in cash.

Anyone care to try to answer the question.

Not that I really care. I am canceling my accounts and wont be around when this all goes down.

It honestly hasn't happened yet (at least that I've seen on this board). There's been no official 'rules' on how it's supposed to work. Plus the 6-week thing is 'temporarily' disabled, so maybe nothing will happen.

I'd do what you're doing, walk away. If no one steps up and gets the citizens together to get a new mayor, then the city should rightly decay.

Sounds like they were all living off your dime anyway.

Well thanks for the honest answer.

I'm not really sure how I'm supposed to deal with a game that sets new rules mid game with unknown consiquenses attached. I get no response from the devsand TH even tho I know they read my post asking what will happen. I have another question. I placedmost ofthe Merchant Tents in the town. There are hundreds of vendors in them. Do Merchant Tents get saved like houses when accounts close? Or is everyone in town gonna lose all their stuff sometime even tho the tents are paid up for over a year. I am thinking everyone in my town is gonna get the shaft sooner or later cus I'm taking some time off. This is not good.

As for the money in the city treasury. I may pop another 10 or 20 million in there if the town is gonna survive this inactive stuff. I may come back for the space expansion. But, its not looking like I would have much left if I did come back. I am just frustrated.

Sigh

I think the merchant tents are treated just like houses.

edit: I think very few cities havecitizens that care about the city as much as the mayor. You see it alot when cities try to elect new mayors. Existing mayor emails and talks to everyone to get them to vote for the new guy.... new guy gets 10 votes. They try it again the next week, new guy gets 7 votes.

Thanks for the beta memories swiggy. I lived in Mos Entha then and I still remember the awe when I saw your farm and 'pulling a swiggy' still gives me a chuckle.

This may be the key that's diff than the regular "inactivity rule". If the account is poofed, I would expect anything associated with that account to poof at one point too, including City Hall....

Lil scary there...

Cancelling the account isn't what gets you. It's deleting the character.
