If you are bored or depressed about being the mayor of your burg - here is something that will help your attitude.

Create a character on another server - and travel to the coordinates of where you city SHOULD be. If you are on a server where this area is undeveloped (or poorly so) the effect of seeing an EMPTY landscape will rip thru your heart - like the end of Its a Wonderful Life - where Bailey gets to see what the world would have been like if he had never been born.

I did it on a whim the other day and I have to say... I was invigorated for my city in wilderness of Lok. It was shocking and sad seeing the town GONE or having never existed. Made me want to go back to my server and yell thru the streets, "Merry Christmas Bedford Falls!!!" (well you get the idea!)

I had already done that. I was a bit sadden to see nothing, and I mean nothing, in the area where our city was at on Sunrunner. But I began to miss the time when I moved out there with my significant other in our large and we were the only people. The view was beautiful. Even missed the times when a couple of friends moved out there and we had fun clearing out lairs that spawned in front of our houses.

Went to another server and saw about 20 harverstors. That was enough. Logged off and deleted that character.

Quite honesty, I can't say if doing that made me appreciate the work I was doing or miss the times when I didn't have to worry about it. /shrugs

I will use a respec and become an entertainer again,
pull out my last pet from my creature handler days
and dance in an empty cantina in Mos Espa and disconnect from the game forever.

But it did allow me to see the land in a different perspective while trying to remember what houses were where and created ideasfor a few new changes in the layout of the city.

I have not done this myself, but I understand the effect you describe. I had a resident who was a key member of my city's population do the same thing and send me a tell (across servers) when she found the empty ground where our city should have been. Since then she logs in more as her main character in our city (she had been playing her alt a lot on that other server and had just never visited our location on the other server), and is more focused on helping out around town and recruiting.

I don't know if I would ever check it out myself. I might give it a whirl tonight out of morbid curiosity.

I didn't do what you said.. but I did something similar.. our original Spired rock north of mos eisley was our home... we literally had tons of people group together before player cities was available.. we even had 3 different PA in our "city" those were the days.. I went back recently.. and well.... it is one BIG empty field..... I was sad.. once a thriving place... once we all move.. no one else taken the place (I guess it was way too close to mos eisley but still) ..... it was sad to see a flat empty space...

MERRY CHRISTMAS AMYRLIN

I frequent alot of servers, do alot of lot swaps to keep myself busy and I like to check in to make sure no one needs anything done to the facilities I've placed here and there. Although I have to admit anyone would be a fool to place their city where I placed mine... I can't stand to look at my empty cliff on these excursions
