Thread: Removing Citizens and Houses Idea that might work

Give the power to the mayor to remove unwanted citizens and houses - and my idea won't allow for griefing.

Use the same tool they devs started to use - a 6 week rule, but give it to the mayor. He can select a house that he assumes is unoccupied - or the player has left the game - and he chooses to condemn it.

This start a 6 week (or whatever) countdown. The player has that time period to respond to an email from city hall. If they do - the countdown stops - and there is no problem. If they dont respond - another email is send out to the player on the final day - but it takes one more day for the house to be redeeded and stored (a vendor type idea in city hall is'nt bad - or just place it in the players bank - charging them interest for storage).

Oh, and this would remove the house even if the maintenance is paid.

Would this work? Perhaps make it 8 or 12 weeks but something. Oh, and the player might have an option of setting a "I'll be back" timer on the house- giving them a set safty time beyond the condemning timer. Maybe that would be a grief, but not everyone would use it.I have citizens who joined my city one day and had to be shown how to declare - then never showed up again.

What happens to the 250 items that they had stored in there? What happens to the time and energy spent to making those 250 items possibly look nice? Homes will not and never will be moveable. It is just something that we are going to have to live with.

Maybe all mayors should start out a protest sit down (a silent one). For the wookiees it worked

Maybe we should do that, a pitty for the spend money already.I'll even go back to rank 2, oh wait right I have a rank 2 at the moment

But I'm bored being politician without any power to control the city. At last I'm the mayor right? If I put some rules up for the city, i must have the tools to enforce them on citizens. And if they don't like it they have to move or just vote a new mayor. (note: voting needs a revamp look below) That way you can give a player griefing methods, but he can be punished by the community. This is also a reason why cities can fall and crumble.

Now for the voting system: oh wait this is of topic right

Houses CAN be movable if the Devs would just add the code... and the items could be stored in a special bank vault. And item layout can be stored in afile... ok I'm dreaming. But everything is doable with the right code.

My main point is addressing how to deal with inactive players - since they've already shown eagerness to do it (but wrongly done, IMHO).

I think it is a reasonable idea. The player can always stop it by logging in. There is no forced removal of a player you don't want in the city, just an inactive account. If we have to live with the inactive rule, I think we should have this ability.

However, I imagine that the devs will not ever let us get rid of a house for an account that is paid up.

Remember the old bug of shifting cities? How hard would it be for the devs to code it on purpose fora house. Shift it outside of a city boundaries - and send the playeran email with waypoint.

I agree, this won't see the light of day. But since the problem of vacant houses are a problem for the CITY, then the mayor should have the right and option of removing (moving) them - not an arbitrary citizenshipo rule from SOEthat effects the player, and the city (loss of citizens and lots).

well.. personally I think we should have the ability to move house ONLY!

if the house = to citizen that is not a citizen.. move to outside the border of the city...

ONLY when..

the house has a strong box.. or transfer all item into a "temp strong" box that player can access when placing a "new home"

all items goes into the strong box via system.. player cannot put anything in them.. can only take them out...

this may work

I'd love to see them do something like this. I'd think it would ease the server and client loads if inactive stuff was eventually 'stored'.

But, I think this bubble will just keep growing until the server database gets too cluttered and they're forced to do something about all the inactive structures and items.

Lol. Problem is that there are more wookiees than politicians. Heck there are probably more imperial wookies than politicians.

I would agree only if the mayor wasn't give the ability to remove houses. Have devs program in the game that a house to go to a 'safety deposit' with all items after a period of time if the individuals has not logged on, thus there is no reason for a mayor to have this power. Now saying that, should it be six weeks? I don't know. I was thinking of 8 weeks. This would apply to all structures, not just houses. So harvestors and generators would be affected by this and it would apply to these structures within player cities and those outside of player cities.

yes... that is the idea... the devs do not want to give mayor this power... that is fine by me... (too much responsibility for me anyways) have the system do it for us.. I mean they already remove the citizen.. just add another batch of commands after email to auto store all the harvestors, houses, items that players has into a "strong box" that can be access after the house is placed (not via bank.. I fear it might be "exploitable") a box will appear inside the house that can only be remove item instead of put items in.... and only way to put items IN the box is after 8 weeks of inactivities... (thus also un-exploitable) hehe
