last week in politics

yeah, so one more week before I'm freeeee! I was originally suppose to get work done during the fanfest, but if you haven't already seen my "dancing on the table" picture, I didn't get much done I've logged on and checked around the city, but I still ain't fully back yet. I've heard that our tailor merchant tent is decaying, but if the current occupant (I guess there's only 1 person) doesn't plan on putting in some money, I don't have time to deal with it right now I'll place a new one when it burns down.

I've heard that TC2 is in chaos, and it's affecting some of the older TC members. I have yet to talk to some of them to see what's going on, but I heard that the amount of griefing on TC2 is preventing a lot of dedicated folks from testing. sad

so what happened in your city this week?

edit: ick, I hate html

Farpoint Village, Dantonine, Tempest

Well, I was out of town last week, but we finally moved up to rank two on June 1. I placed the extra trainers, the bank, and garage. After this morining's update, Farpoint acquired streetlights and a nice statue for the front of the PA hall. The bad news: Growing pains. Last week and again today I had to send an email letting everyone know we will have to move some home around to facilitate the beautification efforts. Some houses were placed poorly during the initial set up of our town. Another city/guild inquired about a merge, with the citizens of Farpoint being the displaced community. It would have been a boost to rank 4 and next week rank 4 as well as being the 2nd largest guild and city on the planet. I discussed with the guild leaders and some of the citizens and I am very, very proud to say that they did not want to move, are proud of our town, and are happy with me and the job I'm doing as mayor. We look forward to moving to rank three next week.

Mesric Sancturary, Tatooine (StarSider)

Our city went through its first successful transfer of power over the weekend. The founder Mayor Chataka Windae has been facing rising calls to take a more active part in the Alliance to Restore the Republic and has had to step down after 7 months in office. His sister Chatlana ( an Architect and local businesswoman) has taken the reigns of the city and is learning her new position as quickly as she can.

The election went more smoothly that was expected. It is a quiet time in the city and there are a number of people away on various business. We had feared that we would not be able to get people to return home in time for the election but that turned out not to be the case. The margin of victory was only 1 vote but it was achieved with a couple of hours to spare and so

The city itself is at a crossroads. There is a small core of dedicated residents but the city is in dire need of new citizens. Each week the city hovers just above the level needed to retain its rank. Without an influx of new residents one week we won't manage to stay over the cap level we need. That will be a sad day indeed.

Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

Our city council took a blow this week as 2 of its 4 members chose to leave the city without a word to anyone, to move to Lok. One moved because he felt he wasn't being listened to (he wanted to unite all the non-guilded people agains the guilded people in the city, becuase he felt personallythreatened by organized groups), and the other moved cuz his in-game wife of 2 days told him to.

/sigh

So, we're back to elections again. Although, I really do think we only need the two of the remaining councilmembers (myself and Skyye Lightma) to really help run the city with our Mayor.

Other than that, we're on the road to forming up something really cool in terms of competitive Universities across the galaxy. More details later as TheSilly and I finalize our plans. But, we've got a plan to bring player cities into a competition marginally involving the GCW but more importantly involving collegiate competition, pep rallies, homecoming dances, etc. I hope it turns out, details later.

This Week in Aurora, Naboo -- Flurry Server 6-8-04

We are preparing to have our first wedding in the city hall. I am excited about officiating and having what will amount to our first all-city party, since making metropolis.

Aurora is a Rebel aligned citywhich led us to establish a defensive wall of medium houses where we will be placing numerous Rebelbases. I am looking forward to Aurora rejoining the GCW after many months out of the fight. We are now looking at the rest of the city's structures and how the city is laid out. The city council and I are discussing how we could go about establishing a more neighborhood oriented city that is less cattywompas in its layout.

We are also preparing the second in a series of city-wide surveys. The first one was very successful, and provided us with a terriffic view of who lives in the city, how they play SWG, where they play SWG and a little bit about their real life personnas. I consider this to be one of the better community building efforts since the city was established.

We continue to run adventures to popular locations such as the Corvette and the Deathwatch bunker with all citizens being invited to the raid(s). These are great for building a close-knit community.

We are also undergoing a city financial audit. The current accounting process has led to deficit spending and the need for an accurate accounting of our debits and credits has become readily apparent.

Finally, we launched our teamspeak server and have been enjoying the ability to audibly converse with the members of our city. We split the server into areas for raids, general metro chat, and seperate chat areas for each guild in the city. Whenever I log into it, I make sure that I stop by each area to see how everone is doing. It is fantastic for my morale to hear that they are having a good time in and around Aurora.

Cheers!

Mos Alianza-Tattooine-Scylla
We were able to meet our city budget again this week with donations, shuttle, & Garage fees.
People see happy in the town for the most part but no body ever hangs in town. Its always empty.
People log on jam for the shuttle and head out to hunt or whatever. People continually tell me what
a good job I am doing though, which makes me feel good. We had a guild leave our city due to the
fact that we no longer seem to have PVP in our streets. We used to have 3 bases in town but the empire
organized a 3 day concentrated hit on us and we couldn't hold them. I have a couple of people saving
there faction points to help in acquiring another base for the city. However that is going slow due to the fact
that people want-to-grind and Imp missions just don't give enough exp per kill. Me and our commerce guy
in Alianza are trying to revitalize our mall which used to get mass traffic but then nobody would go there...
"because of all the empty vendors" I hate the hologrind! Those wannabe temporary merchants literally ruined
commerce for our town. We have tried all this week to get vendors in our new mall and in a week we cannot
even get one merchant to move in ...not even with a satellite vendor. It is becoming frustrating. Things arent as
grand as they could be for Mos Alianza this week.

.CITIZEN KATINGA BECOMES AEGIS COMMERCE MINISTER
Recently arrived in Aegis, citizen Katinga has quickly proved herself a very active and dynamic person. Her knowledge of craftsmanship and commerce, and her interest in improving the city's attractivity, have led her to applying for the job of Commerce Minister. After a brief interview, Mayor Neekocha officially accepted the application. Minister Katinga will be in charge of maintaining a good offer in terms of commerce and original services in Aegis.

.PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST EXTENDED
The photography contest organized by the Office for Culture and Entertainment is extended to june 15th. You have 7 more days to submit your photos around the general theme of Corellia, and maybe win 50,000 credits and a speederbike offered by Aegis Mall. Contact: Neekocha.

.LOCAL WEAPONSMITHING TO GET BETTER ?
With Gortais' Toy Bazaar running out of business, the city of Aegis was left without any local offer in terms of weapons ; quite annoying in these troubled times of civil war. After some attempts from several members of the City Council to attract a new weaponsmith to Aegis, the good news finally came from local initiatives: both Proximity Jane and Siwi Hi'tah announced this week their plans about learning the fine arts of weaponry and opening local weapon vendors. May the credits be with you!

.IMPERIAL STORMTROOPER SQUAD FOUGHT BACK AT AEGIS DOORS
The Empire will think it twice next time... A squad of twelve stormtroopers was sent today to monitor Rebel activities in the area. With their shuttle landing only 200m from the doors of Aegis, a wild dire cats lair would have been safer for them. Quickly engaged by a small group of citizens, the squad was quickly turned into a pile of carbonized armors, shining under the Corellian sun.

.SHORT NEWS
+City: the efforts for a strong demography have been rewarded this week with the arrival of nearly 10 new citizens
+City: Olikeba's Aegean Dream cantina - former 8 Valorum Avenue - is now officially closed

Well, this week i managed to master politician. I know there is nothing in it for me or my city, but its kinda fun to run around with the rarest title in the game. We also became a Research Center, which seems to please most of the residents. We lost a few older players who quit the game a while ago, and the pock marks from their houses are being filled with an unusual amount of new residents. As we are an invitation only city, and we are no where near a poi, I was a bit surprised by the influx of residents. Our commerce center is expanding, too much so for the old mall facility, so we are working on moving a guildhall into the city to serve as a mall. Our master BE/Chef set up a tent right next to the shuttle on some prime realestate, and i swear it had nothing to do with his donations to city hall We also got our armorsmith back, who had to leave for several months while her RL house was built.

Hopefully next week will see the same level of growth, but that's all for now.
