We have a mayor who no longer wishes to be mayor. More than half the players that make up our city are usually on to pay upkeep then go to another server. We can not get a majority vote to get him out of office. He has tried to leave the town and go to another but it tells him he is already a citizen as mayors are always a citizen of the city no matter what. He has dropped his polotician skill and that did not work. Nothing we have tried has worked. We have others that would gladly take his place as he has done his duty to us and the city and he wants a break and we are happy to help him. How can he get out? Has SOE locked him into a mayor spot? We do not want to lose our shuttleport and other people have built into the thown a theater, cantina and the like so if we lose players we lose the status required for such things. Is there anyway out for our tired mayor?

sorry hon, there's nothing you can do currently

I have talked to TH about this... not much I can say (need to get permission first), but we should keep this as one of our top 5. I'll get that started when I'm less busy

Only way I see is that you get a bunch of external players together (maybe pay them) so that there are more than 50% active players in the city - then vote - then let the "bought voters" move again.

The auto vote is a blessing and a curse...

the blessing... once you vote someone into office.. you don't have to actively vote each week and the mayor gets exp from your one autovote.... less headache overall

the curse... removing somone out of office takes effort.. need people to vote for the other person....

what we did (to vote me back into office) was getting outsiders to join in the city and recruit (this works if others have militia rights) and just overpower the "inactive" or "autovote" people..

and if you like - I'll happily create a character on your server to move into your city, vote for your proposed mayor and then leave after the election.

If you get enough volunteers for this, then it will be acheivable.

Thank you all for the advice. We have indeed tried the cross server thing. But now we have a bunch of houses that we pay for in the city that have no real owners and when we go to them and ask them to come back and vote cause we are doing the same for them they ignore us.

I come from a city as well that a mayor left. It took a lot of canvassing, determining which citizens I could get votes from andhow many new citizens I needed to recruit to win. It took many city updates and a month or two - if I recall. We did have over 55 and eventually went down to 35.....We did lose our shuttleport too. It was just a good thing :

- there wassufficient money in the Treasury (as no taxeswas placed)

- the old mayor removed zoning (or it wasn't inplace)

- that all the structures were leftin place (cantina, clone, Guild.Itcould've beena lot worse.

First, I think it's a combination of many problems.

+ buffer/cross-server, unreal citizens (the MAJORITY of the problems stems from this and the number of inactive players which seem to out number the number of real citizens and make it difficult to winby amajority vote)

+ inactive players (should take 6 weeks to remove from citizenship list - CSR confirmed this is still in effect)

+ old citizens not being removed from the citizenship list

I think, if the 6 weeks of inactivity does indeed work and removes inactive citizens from the citizenship list, thenit's justa matter of time. Although the current system is a"LITTLE DIFFICULT" to hand-over mayor,I'm happy with the current system and it should require some hard work. Either, get the majority (by getting as many real votes you can and recruiting) or wait the 6 week period as these are removed from the citizens list while the city reflects the correct citizenship and rank.

For some reason, I can't see why over 50% of a cities population is inactive and will not or can not cast there vote and although some go to school, military or other, I can't see that as BEING THE MAJORITY.

So, to me...this is good. Citizens havea responsibility to the success of their city by making up at least 51% and the mayor has a responsibility that the city does comprise of citizens that make up 51%.

Saying that, it's probably easier for smaller cities (outpost, villages, townships) and gets a littlemore difficult for larger cities and metropolis's. It's probably even more difficult if a mayorhas left and having left zoning enabled.

But, I don't thinkthe MAJORITY of mayors that are leaving leave mayorship leave their city is a bad state. They typically do their best to leave their city in a good state and help with the election.

I'm not for buffer/cross-server, unreal citizens. This game would be a whole lot different if you could only have one account (one char and one server), that structures such as houses, factoriesand harvesters only had single ownwer (admin and hopper) and could not be transferred.

Oh - I do agree - ALL csr's should have a governing code and abide by a single standard and not dependant on the csr....
