hahah, have any of you ever had this happen while having a new citizen vote for the first time?
"Who is Abstain? and why are they running against you?"
hahaha, i should just set up a /rofl macro for this, it has happened many times for me
i think it is funny that that option is even in there, i mean why would somebody go out of their way to go to the voting terminal just to say that they are not going to vote? heh, seems pointless. and for the many players who have English as a second language or maybe just don't know what Abstain means, it is confusing.
anyway, just wondering if this is a common laughable event among the Mayoral community
also, does the abstain option actually have a purpose that i do not know about?
p.s. if there was a post about this i have no way of knowing, i don't have the time to scroll through 1000000000 posts (although that would be quicker than trying to ever get the search function to work)

My impression has always been that "Abstain" is the fix for votes defaulting to the encumbent. It was easier to add in that option and change the default path than it was to completely rewrite the system. They missed a few places, though, since new citizens automatically have their vote cast for the incumbent; after the first cycle they'll defualt to "Abstain" like everyone else.

Oh, ok, so it was a work around, I see. Well, it is a laugh also...I find myself campaigning against Abstain...
"No, I don't think Abstain is good for our city. You know where I stand on the issues, can you really even tell me where Abstain stands? I promise you I will listen to our citizens more and do much more to improve our city than Abstain will."
so far my campaigning has worked

I think that happened to me once, and I asked the guy if he knew what abstain meant and to look it up on dictionary.com

Yeah first time I saw this, I was like "Who the *** is running against me?" of course it didn't help that we were dealing with issues of a possible hostile city take over.

Lol, clever ![]()
First time I saw Abstain (as a mayor myself), I was a little shocked, but then I was like... I never let an "Abstain" into the city ![]()
I noticed it sounded like "absent," so I just shrugged it off as a vacant vote, hehe.
