Thread: What the Devs should work towards for this class

1. Ability to campaign.
Not necessarily for any xp - but give running mayors the ability to hang banners, or signs, or anything like that (crafted by tailors/architects of course) within 5 squares of any civic building.

2. Campaign Promises / Platform
One option that is missing in the mayor voting terminal, is an option to review platform for each mayor. Each mayor will have option to 'define platform' .. where they can type a 250 char 'platform statement'

3. Ability for Mayor to move houses.
Click on a house and use /move and /rotate to move it around. Part of being a good mayor is having an effective city. Too obrusive to order people to move their houses in order to clean up city clutter. Mayor should be able to do this to any structure within city limits (hey - he's voted in isn't he)

4. Impeach option
Citizens need to have a way to impeach their mayor (correct word?) . Go into city hall, and first person selects "Start Impeach Petition" .. 90% of population needs to sign petition, then mayor is ousted and whichever mayor has highest votes is selected.

5. NPC Militia Patrols
Be able to set up static patrols for 2 groups of 5 NPC militia. Set to attack anybody which falls into pre-set categories.

Wow, I love all of these ideas.

1. Not sure how viable it is, but it is definitely a cool idea.

2. I definitely think this could be possible. I would love to be able to 'View Platform' on the politicians on the ballot.

3. This is a good idea too, but will probably never be put in due to the fact that the devs think there are ways to grief with this. Perhaps the person whose house is moved should get a confirmation message, or an email saying it was moved, or must give consent to the mayor.

4. Impeachment isn't really necessary with 1 week terms, however it could be in the system just to give power back to the people. I don't see a need for it, but I wouldn't protest it.

5. This is cool, a good idea. Perhaps Martial IV or Master Politician. The only thing is that I would like maybe a politician to declare a faction for the city so that he can have rebel patrols. As for just normal police, perhaps, if you are on Naboo for example, you can have the local police (RSF) patrol if you 'hire' them, and they will attack people who are warned or added to a KOS list. (kill on sight)

As far as the move / rotate - it allows the mayor to shift the houses quickly and effectively. Players would log in, and if their house is moved, it gives them an email with the new waypoint. As for exploits - mayor would ONLY be able to work within the confines of the current city limits.

As far as people getting their houses moved without wanting to ... they voted for the mayor. If they don't like it - impeach him .. get another mayor, and get him to move it back.

Impeach would be necessary to solve those instances where the mayor is doing a VERY bad job... I go into office and I raise the taxes to full, start withdrawing from treasury like mad, put everyone on the city militia kos list ... There needs to be a backup plan to prevent Psycho Power-Hungry Mayors. You'd be amazed at how power can make people snap

As for NPC soldiers.. yes. The politician would have to buy each soldier, and pay that soldier an hourly rate for every hour they are patrolling.

also, to add to list:

6) New citizens must be sponsored by at least 2 existing citizens (or by absolute mayor rule) to be allowed into city. (an option of course) Would work similar to how the guild hall has the 'sponsor'. This will stop the hostile takeovers people are worried about. If a hostile takeover STILL occurs - then its their fault for letting in TWO people that are out to get them
