Thread: Player City Cantinas: Suggestion to help their entertainers

It hasbeen my general analysis that alot of cities suffer a lack in entertainers at their cantinas. I know some cantinas do not have this problem but I am aware that quite a few, at least on my server, are almost always empty.

I would like to propose thatMayors get a skill to place npc's in their cantinas, maybe 4, that would constantly give xp to entertainers making them want to lvl up in player city cantina's instead of everyone crowding places like Coronet becasue that is one of their only options to get xp.

Now the npc's shouldn't give as much xp as normal players' wounds and BF but they should give a slow but steady rate of xp so that the entertainers would be able to lvl up and still perform in their city's cantina.

First question or problem would be that these might take to much from static cities once holo grinding is gone.

Well yes and no. It would infact even the "playing field" out but it wouldn't take all attention away from static cities becasue the rate of xp from the npc's would not match that of normal players and the limit of 4 npc's or so would make the static cantina's look good as well. This is just a way to allow entertainers of cities that want to help their city by providing the cantina their with their service gain xp instead of dancing/playing alone ina cantina and not get any xp.

The second question or problem I could think of is how exactly could you justify steady xp and how would these npc's have so much to heal.

Well it doesn't have to be steady and constant xp. Maybe players could talk to the npc's and encourage them to fight one another. Now this could be done with something like..

Player A talks to Npc A and goes to the selection where he can say that Npc B was looking at him funny, or w/e, and will give him 2k to go over there and knock Npc B out.

This would allow some extra content in the Cantina because players could start the Npc's fighting, all brawler fights for a cantina like feel, and make bets on which Npc would win. The Npc's would fight for awhile gaining alot of wounds and BF which would then be healed off by the entertainers and any medics around for good xp.

Also I thought that maybe something extra could be added in for content and cantina help where, after the GCW involves player cities, a random spawn of npc's would come to the cantina, jabba npc's for neutral rebels for rebel cities and imperial for imperial cities, that would talk to the entertainers about how "we were jumped by so and so and need some emergency care and healing"

The entertainers could thenfocus their attention on the npc's and not only gain xp but a credit tip of decent size from the npc's. These random spawns would be done a few times a day maybe and allow a small incoe and a decent bit of xp for the entertainers.

I understand this deals alot with entertainers but for the fact that it would be a Player City Cantina only event/process I thought it best to post it here.

Please share your feelings and feedback...run with the idea if you think of something better and can branch it off of this idea or tell me why you don't think this is a good idea. Please only post productive comments, not "omg this idea sucks" heh that way I can either agree with you and modify the idea ortalk on the ideas more.

Thank you for your time.

Right but I feel that it would give entertainers that want to help the city but want xp to be able to help the city at the cost of a little xp but not all of it.

Mostly though if the city isn't generating enough money to place a few npc's something needs to be done lol. These wouldn't be costly maybe the same cost of another trainer, which is only like 1k a week. I do feel that only this would not keep master enterainers but master enterainers would not need xp, so they could stick around to help the npc. However the npc's could tip a small amount of credits to the enterainers for healing them, I believe that the devs are putting in similar quests for enterainers so why not make player city quests in that city.

The second suggestion would really be for the non-xp needing entertainers so that they could get a little cash on the side.

Heh thanks for your input...keep it comming guys ^_^

Our city has about 70 citizens and you're right - cantina's empty. It's probably due to everyone being gone doing their own thing. Older players are off on greater challenges and newer players are running faction missions, doing POI's and working on their profession(s). Even I'm running either between planets for my harvesters or vendors and since I'm mainly a crafter and not a combatant, why would I go to the cantina ?

There may be more hope in larger cities 150 or more cits.

But, would be nice to have *something* to keep and help promote entertainers remaininto their own player cities.

I think, if mayors place NPC's, it'sgoing to be somewhere on the Politician tree - thusthe entertainer is at the mercy that the Politician wants or willmove up that particular branch. Also, it would probably cost the city (such as terminals, trainers and Lamp post currently do) and increase tax (or something) and maybe not all citizens want this addition. Again, entertainers do little for crafters.

The problem I see is that, it may draw an entertainer but only when they are untrainedandneeds the xp. And, if they get less xp from this NPC then they canin Theed or Coronet, I don't think it will still attract them.

Good ideas-

What say you entertainers ? What would keep them in player cities ?

My solution to this was to get hold of some good crafting stations and put them in the cantina. Now, anyone who wants to grind hangs out in the cantina and talks to the entertainer. Ok, still not wonderful for entertainer healing exp, but at least it stops the place being empty QUITE so often.

Admittedly, this only works part of the time.

Hey! Talk about about a great simple idea that is easy to do...

Have to bounce this off of the Cantina owner's head to see if she will go for it!

Thanks for the idea!

personally I'm not a fan of the idea, but then I'm an entertainer, and my city has an active cantina. a steady feed of xp will likely attract mostly macrotainers, and eliminate the player interaction that most non-holo-entertainers are looking for. I prefer to have a live cantina with minimal macrotainers, rather than promote macrotaining.

... but that's just my entertainer side speaking, go figure *shrug*

True enough, but in my experience people who are grinding tend to to select watch or listen to holo-entertainers.

Well, mostly they don't.

The idea of placing NPC's in cantinas isnt to great, but then i started thinking "Uhm, why not go even further?". Would be really cool if NPC's visited your city, walked around, maybe hanged around in the cantina fora while, also NPC's robbing each other and such would make it complete. Npc's spawning in the city should be a bit random and depanding on the amount of people living there, for example if you got a town with 20 persons maybe just 1 or 2 of them would visit, but with a city of 100 living there should have like 20-30 NPC's walking down the streets, go into cantinas, public houses such as medical center and so on. That would really make the city feel more alive

This is a great idea

I would prefer to have random NPC spawns (even if they gave xp to entertainers) over static NPCs. that, and those spynet (?) guys that they were talking about in the other thread for BHs. it would be fun to have NPCs walk around

Ya thats a great idea and kind of what I'm was trying to hit on with my second idea...if static npc's isn't a liked idea I would still like to see some that would come in as "we are injured troops passing through and need immediate medical attention" and such. These could not only grant xp but a little money to the entertainers or medics that help them.

Such npc's and even a step further, like stated above, like ones that wander around your city talking and making the city feel alive and welcoming. I would still like to see the ability to place npc's in a cantina even if they don't grant any xp or bonuses...it'd be another way to add to the "vibe"
