Our mayor had to quit due to some RL issues so we are stranded without a mayor. I decided to buy Novice and run and take over the spot. After I spent the 500AP, I noticed that more than half of our town either has moved, left the guild, or doesn't play much anymore. What I'm wondering is if someone can get the old mayor's account (a RL friend is in the guild) and he drops all politician, what will happen? Will he even be able to? And what happens in X number of months when his character is destroyed?

Any ideas you have I'd really appreciate. Thanks...

I believe if you can get his account as long as there is a person to run against him he should be able to remove himself from the ballot.

Nope... he has to be voted out and he gets all of the votes by default. Voting out an incumbant mayor is very hard to do.

Hello Malakah,

We experienced the same exact problem. Our old mayor up and left too and we lost half the city either goingto Lok, Tatooine, FF11 and EQ or quitting (Final Fantasy or Ever Quest). Wasn't long after that welost our shuttleport too. Of course, most who left did NOT revoke residency (which would've eliminated there vote)and many also did not remove their houses.

The city was doomed. Our only hope for it's survival was to launcha massivevoting and recruiting campaign. I must say, had I not been an Master Architect, I don't think I could have pulled it off.

I had checked the voting terminal to determine exactly how many actual (active) citizens were around and asked them to vote for me. For the remaining votes that I needed, myself and a few others spammed cantina's, Star & Shuttlports, Medical Centers looking for new players.

Being a Master Arch, I was able to donate a free house, speeder and some credits. It did take about 3 months to finally win the election. We're holding at about 70 citizens now.

Thanks for your input everyone. I got a few people to move into the city and begged some of the people that left the guild to come back and vote, so I may actually get in this week. If not, I'm going to have to figure something else out because I called in just about every favor I was owed!

Our city is having the same issue. Our mayor wants to resign but he can't. The new person we want in needs 45 votes to win the election. Mayors need a way to resign, like voting for another candidate to move the incumbant votes to that candidate.
