OK, I know i will get flamed but i can care less. I still have to pay out 200k a week to cover my Metro city, ppl are tired of taxes and dont wanna add extra in the city. I think politician needs to be reworked (NOW). So many cities have gone under on wanderhome because of money issues. All we got outa this profession was a "Master" tag whoohoo. Its been said before to the devs about how to get the city money.

Mission terminal cut

clone center cut

Trainers cut

(Fix the shuttle bug)

And if you cant do any of this CUT THE COST OF A CITY IN HALF.

With the recent loss of players to other games I have to agree, Our city built up quite a surplus of money in the begining to the point that we live quite comfortably with low enough taxes

However recent events havegobbled up that surplus and we now run probably even-200k in deficit compared to our previous 200k+ surplus something could be done to ease the strain this is having on some cities I assume.

While we arnt in danger with many old time millionaires in our ranks, im sure newer cities could be having difficulties.

Ok my friend you are master poli Grats im almost there also.

Write a state of the city adress start if off on the subject about how far you have come as a city make sure to word it in such a way that you center your focus on the well being of the city. Avoid using words like "I" & "me" use "We" and "You" & "Citizens" convey that they are the most important thing to the city operations. then once you have thier attention set out and give them the numbers streight up the costs of the decorations, facilities, tainers, and whatnot down to to last light pole. Show them how much thier taxes bring in wich is crap. Then Tell them that the current plan is not working. Figuer out what will work and propose that.

MA was going into debt 200k a week also. I did what I suggested above and proposed that the taxes be elliminated all together and that the city go on a 90% donation program. the only city generated income is our garage fee which is 10% and our 100cr shuttle fee. The rest of our cash comes from donations. In the last two weeks we have generated 1.8m credits into our treasury! Offer plaques in city hall for the 100k plus donators. Offer mission terminals to individuals on thier porch for 6k a week. Suggest that everyone do one mission a day and deposit that cash directly into the treasury. It takes what, 5 mins to run a mission? But the number one suggestion i will make to you is to get the notion of needing to get paid for your services as mayor. Never even suggest it to you citizens. If they say to take a pay tell them absolutly not. Tell them to put that cash into city hall instead. Perhaps declare every wednesday Missions for the city day. They still make EXP but encourage them to donate that days mission cash to city hall. Make sure you stay selfless in your job never let them think you want somthing out of it at all make sure they know that you are there to serve them and that you will be doing a few missions a week also for the city hall but dont dump all kinds of cash into treasury each week. that is garenteed to cause you grief and burnout.

Anyway the cense of community in MA has jumped from hardly any to everyone hanging out and running missions and dueling and being part of the city.

I hope I have helped you today

Take care Mr Mayor

Well like was said above just promote donations and a mission day or something and that would probably help you out alot....the only problem is that these are out of our power ways to generate maintenance. Why can't we balance the books? I understand that people hate taxes and all that but so far that is really the only way we can make any money and it is never enough unless you are willing to bet on sales tax staying consistent which is never assured.

So many ways to balance the budget (like you said just give us 10% or whatnot off of trainers pay and mission reward) that will never be implemented. Cities are supposed to be the millionaire's money sink but most millionaires dont' live in cities. A lot of the prominent and beyond well off crafters on my server have a spot that they've had since the first month or so. They aren't moving into my town and I can't blame them, I wouldn't do it if I were in their shoes either. Oh well, at least I'm a fighting mayor so I can make money relatively easy just by hitting ST encampments on my borders.

I'm a pretty firm believer of taxes, only because I don't want the responsibility of funding the city to fall into the hands of a few people who are willing to contribute. Our city is a decent size, and there are benefits to joining the city, therefore I want all the citizens to help (by property tax not citizen tax... there's no accurate way to collect the latter )

if your city is having financial problems, try stuff such as city hunt or major fundraising events. if these don't work, ask your citizens why they live in your city. if they support you and the city, then get together and come up with a solution, whatever it might be.

One of the main problems i see is that there is no benifit for anybody to move into a city. We have nothing to offer our citizens to move into an organized city as opposed to droping a house in the perimiter of a major NPC city.

I find myself dumping a million into the treasury every other week, which is rapidly depleting my personal fortune.

Asking for assistance from mycitizens seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

Raise taxes and slash costs (just do it and email them why). Citizens should not get to live in a nice city without contributing.

5ka week for a citizens should cover the basic costs of your city. If it doesn't... you're being luxurious (pull up a couple of those gardens and streetlights). If you have a specialization, make the people who benefit from it, pay for it.

If you're 500k in the red every week!? Your taxes are way too low and you have way too much fluff in your city.

You have a metropolis.. that's say 80 people (maybe more). 5k / citizen is 400k a week. If you have a citizen leave because of a 5k/week tax... you don't want them as a citizen. Most people call them Mooches.Did you even think about how much it was going to cost the city when you placed those gardens, statues, streetlights, terminals, trainers? Do you have a specialization just because?

but all these taxes ideas are great... but what I would LOVE to have is a breakdown where our money (the taxes) are coming from...

Right now it is all pretty much guess work.

If you have excel, get the cost/tax worksheet.I did one and so did Koryanna (sp, sorry!) Do the math hehehe

15% property (60 small houses, 20 mediums = 41k/week)

2k income (80 citizens = 160k/week)

100 shuttle (25/weekday + 50/weekendday = 22500)

30% garage (20 5k repairs = 30k)

Total = about 250k which seems way too low for a metropolis... consider doubling those.

hehe, me too! can't stress it enough, we NEED to know how our city treasury's doing without relying on guesstimation on taxes and donation.
