My city is on the cusp of hitting metropolis level (80/85). I've been on here, lurking a lot, trying to learn all I can about politician, but i can't seem to find much to justify moving up from a level 4 city. A few more terminals and trainers, couple of lightpoles, and a whole lot of cost is all that seems to await at level 5. I want to gain all the benifits i can for my city, but I also don't want to cost my citizens a lot of money if they're not recieving anything in return. Any Level 5 mayors have any advice on this? (we're not really cramped for space, so the 50 meters is somewhat moot)

You are right, under any circumstances really the 50 meters isessentially an immaterial addition....

The only real gain with metropolis (besides the cost), is the prestige that I suppose is thereby associated.

I am the mayor of a metropolis, I am glad that I am. Really, one should hope, that the additional cost should be negligible with that level of citizenship, but the reservations there are understandable. You may wish to stay at rank 4, but, if you have a decent level of participation and activity, why not simply let the growth occur. We all know that more participation, assuming it is welcomed and in good faith, is always a good thing. Why stifle that? If you feel the reason is worthwhile go for it, but otherwise I would suggest you think twice before being too restrictive on the growth of your city.

Situations are always in change, and that they are changing for the better is the best thing that you could hope for.

I am the founding Mayor of our City which currently boasts over 120 citizens. Our goal was to create a SWG community, a hustling, bustling city, where players had all the perks the game would allow player cities, where folks could meet and play together. We have 2 Cantinas, 2 Banks, Industrial Parks, a Military Zone, a Marketplace briming with vendors and all the other buildings/civic structures that are available. Our city attracts players from every planet, and many of them eventually inquire to move in. Once we reached Metro status, we struggled to keep ourselves at 85 for a few weeks. Then we had another growth period. This occurred shortly after we won the X-Wing which is now on display near our Shuttleport.

I have found that the larger the city, the more folks are attracted to it. Our planet has many smaller cities. THEIR citizens play in our city. The community has fun, and that's what is important in my eyes.

If we suddenly were to loose citizens, I'ld seriously have to look at how I am managing the city, and take action to adjust. I'm flexable. Our taxes are modest. Out of towners frequently contribute to the treasury, just to show their satisfaction with the city and feel that while they don't even live there, they want to see the city continue to thrive.

So, to answer your question... the ultimate satisfaction for any Mayor is to watch his city grow to Metro status and witness how the community comes together to make that happen. Even with all the bugs, the lack of features, the challenge in the Politician profession, you can make it work. And that's the bottom line
