New Unity, Naboo, Test Center

first, let me say Happy Birthday to Odi, my honey bunches of oats both in game and out

The ID patch really spiced things up around the city, now we have people with an assortment of new hair or skin colors walking around, and it's fun I'm not daring enough to try the bright purple all over, so I got my marking colors changed, plus my alt got bright(er) red hair the holoemotes are awesome imo, I love the higher level one such as butterflies, blossom, heart, etc.... wait, I had a point... yes, patches means increased traffic. I'm guessing this patch will generate a little less income for our city because it's not combat related, but it's more fun to watch people with blue or purple hair

People notice that I usually sit in front of the city hall, edge of the large garden right in front of the city hall, or the corner of the cantina (still relatively close to the city hall.) It gives me a good view of the city, and I can "listen" to what goes on around the area. People recognize me when they walk around and say hi I get to talk to new people a lot, and some friends even sit with me at times. I turn off my "non-collidable flora" option though, some of it looks pretty but there are too many bushes around the city I especially like the outer corner of the cantina, maybe I should put a statue there to reserve my spot

Today someone yelled "LEARN HOW TO ALL CAPS BILLBOARD SEND ME 50,00 CREDS OR ILL HUNT YOU DOW!" in the cantina... that person was kicked out of the cantina and city faster than they can finish the next sentence. We don't like it when people think they can come here and do anything they want just because it's a "test" server... most of the visitors are great, but you always get some people with problems =/ We also get the groups of half-nekkid people who claims that the newbie clothing suck, or that they sold their clothes to get to our city... nowadays I have well-trained eyes for boxers and panties/bra O.o and you wonder why people don't get embarrassed running around in their undies Incidences like these are a daily part of NU, and some of them are rather... interesting O.o

Due to people going to the DWB and such instead of the city hunts, our treasury growth slowed down, and we might even be losing some money. A bunch of our combatant now stay at Emerald City for the better missions, hopefully we can resume our city hunts soon

Tell me about your city, your citizens, and the likes, anything worth noting Share your experiences with us!

edit: holy cow! i just noticed i overloaded the post with smilies... guess that's what happens when i'm tired O.o

Makarha's Estate, Tatooine, Bria Server

What started as three people having fun as turned into something larger and grander than we ever expected.

It started months ago when my real life husband said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to have two slave bodyguards for your merchant character?" So he and our friend did indeed make a pair of Bothan brothers to be my character's slaves and bodyguards. From there, we were having so much fun, that the three of us got second accounts, just to expand the idea and form a guild, and three more Bothan slaves were born.

And then our friend said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if the estate turned into a city, and was run by one woman, like Nym's Stronghold?"

Having already been a politician on another server that failed (due to many reasons, but that's another story), I was avoiding becoming one again despite the requests to help run or take over other cities. At least until that question was so innocently posed. It got me thinking, "You know, that would be kinda of neat." And then it nagged and nagged at the back of my mind for weeks, and we started planning on what we would need to do, how to expand, what requirements we would have...

And that's when I realized that despite saying I would never, ever be a mayor again, I was not only going to do so, but I was excited about it.

That was about five voting cycles ago.

Eventually, we got the ten people we needed, I made the City Hall (my character is a Master Architect), and ran out to place it all excited. Everyone was on even, so I wouldn't have to worry about the 24 hour period.

But, it was on Tatooine that we tried this, and the first day I tried to place the City Hall, I got the message (which I should have predicted) that all the spots were filled. Second day, same thing. Third, fourth, and a week passed with no luck. We decided however to 'stay and pray' that a spot would open up.

Three vote cycles ago, my darling husband absently commented to me upon coming home from work, "Have you tried to place the city hall today?" My answer was no, but I'll go try now.

I almost didn't believe my eyes when it was able to be placed. I knew that the rest of the group wouldn't be on for two days, but hey, the advantage of being an Architect meant I could just make another City Hall when this one went poof to continue to hold the spot until we got the people. Long and short, I only had to make one more City Hall before we were up and running.

So now, somewhere on Tatooine, outside Mos Entha, there is a very well to dobusiness woman (and slave trader, shhh...)who owns her own Estate that has grown so large, it is it's own city now. Every brick, every building, every structure, every piece of furniture, made by her own hands after starting from complete scratch with no other help.

Now, as of this evening, the Estate has 15 guild members, 14of them citizens of the Estate. The Estate supports fully every structure within it, and every character within it. That is, it supports the Mistress, two free-women that are the Mistress's old family friends she grew up with since childhood, seven male Bothan slaves, one female Bothan slave, one female Twi'lek slave, two full time employees, and one associate. The Estate maintains all the structures (1 guild hall, 1 large house, 6 medium houses, 17 or 18 small houses, 2 of each factory, and the rest of the free lots between us go to harvesters whose number changes constantly, only 20 heavies going right now), and 12 vendors. We are turning a profit again instead of feeding the harvester and structure beasts, and we're having a lot of fun doing it. We get new members to the Estate out of the blue with people dropping in and being utterly amazed at what we have going and wanting to be a part of it, or seeing us out as the War Dog Pack (3-5 of the Bothans out together, all black fur, white hair, dressed in the same or similar clothing).

We do not care if we ever get bigger, or if the city grows, or we get a shuttle port. We don't care if we have the biggest or best guild or city. I do not go out recruiting for the city, but there is an area set aside for urban development should we actually get people interested in living in the city but not be a part of the Estate, as we call it. I also learned from my mistakes last time as a politician, so I knew what to do differently this time around. We went in with no expectations, but only ideas of 'Hey, wouldn't it be cool if...' It's been absolutely amazing what we've turned it into now. I look forward to seeing where it will go next. Even if we pack up and leave now, that's okay with us too, because we have no expectations, only that we have fun (and turn a profit along the way).

However, not everything is always positive. I did have to fire my first employee today. That is, he was removed from the Estate, both the city and the guild. I ended up putting him on ignore by the end of it, just to get some peace. He was given a large house, 25,000 credits severence pay, and whatever items and equipment we gave him he was allowed to keep as well. (He was also told, but I doubt if he listened to it, that he could contact one of the others to discuss the matter, as well as petition for re-admittance through them as well.)

We have just reached our goal of Township, with cloner! In one night we placed our hospital, dropped our cloner, added over 20 structures, and are now discussing as a city what specialization to choose. Our first large garden will go up today, as well as a redesign of our mission terminal system, as the front of city hall has become quite congested! Normally, you will find 10-20 people running missions and visiting city hall every evening.

I have decided against a cantina for the moment, unless another Master Dancer or Musician would like to place one (I am the sole Master Dancer). I much rather prefer using the City Hall as the gathering place, and have decorated it so. Our City Hall serves as a true gathering place, and musem to rare artifacts. We now boast 3 Krayt Skulls, the Hunter's Trophy, a Force Crystal Pyramid, 5 holocrons, two broken light sabers, Corsec badges, pre-nerf weapons, as well as rare weapon schematics, and the list goes on! We also have started our rare painting collection, and factional armor displays. We are a rebel town, but accept and compensate donations to faction items on display.

Shadow Mountain is an isolated city, and will not register on the map. Our citizens prefer their privacy and enjoy the solitude they can achieve in the south east corner of Dantooine.

I am enjoying being the Mayor, and find it to fit my social lifestyle!

Mos Alianza Scylla,

We are on our second week of donations intstead of taxes and in 10 days we have generated 1.8million credits! We have 3 sposored parks 2 sponsored terminals and the donor wall in the city hall is shapping up nicely. I to often sit at our shuttle port looking down main street. I dont hink I have to ever worrry about being voted out lol... The citizens cheer my work wich make it all completly worth while! We have however lost Merto status for the time being due to a few of the original house from members long since gone exploding. we are down to 83. But this does not seem to worry us. The citizens are loving the Improved Job Market also.

thats all for now!

Farpoint Outpost, Dantooine, Tempest

Mayor Vinjar won his first election and earned an amazing 1300 xp which he promptly spent on the wrong skill box, thinking he could get his new town on the map. Why oh why is that even a skill when it is highly unlikely the town will be big enough? Farpoint has now grown to 16 citizens and counting. Mayor Vinjar has place a small house 500m from the Mining Outpost so crafters may set up vendors. An advertising (read: spamming) droid will be purchased and placed at the Mining Outpost to create traffic.

There is the possibliity of a PvP tourney in mid-June. Details are still being worked out. Mayor Vinjar has leaned a lot from reading the posts in this forum and would like to thank everybody for their help.

Was it really in January that about 8 of us decided to start our own guild? What planet, what goals all of that initial planning. We decided to settle just SW of Theed primarly due to "no" shuttle wait - hey you must admit that is a nice plus (especially in the days of the 9 minute waits).

As we settled in by the river - we began to realize what a little spawning area we camped down into. Spineflaps, kaadus, and many more - and thoughts of an outpost began as whispers to our guild members, since an outpost would at least make our living space safe from those that came to hunt us - oh wait we were the hunters!

Our guild now with 10 players met up with another guild a group of 5 and after much discussion and a bit of confusion we decided to plop down a city hall to see what would happen. We had no goals of expansion, we just wanted a little outpost by the river. But those 15 members great until we became a village. Imagine the pride we felt when we put down The Blue Banana cantina and we had our first fashion show there. Our little village now our pride - the two guilds APB and SIM (a core group of rl friends) along with friends from another guild began to form a community. Our numbers in both guilds have grown alot since January. The city now just a few days away from advancement to a level 3. A hospital and cloning just around the corner. Last week I got voted in to assume the responsibility of Mayor of this fine little village by the river. Today we talked about budgets, activities, redesigns and community. Also went and got my first bit of politician training - with the guidance of our city council.

This week Stargate will become a Township!
