Just a short question.. what happens if a Metropolis loses its current rank due to lack of citizens and lvl 4 is already filled with the maximum of allowed cities? Do you fall back on rank 3 or do they extend the citylimit in that case (can't imagine that a lvl 4 city then loses it's status to give way for the former Metropolis)?

On the major planets there can beten rank 4 and 5 cities, so even if you fall from one of the 5 metros youshould still be a rank 4 city since you (hopefully) would have the population requirement.

I'm pretty sure that the cap is 10 cities rank 4 or higher on the big 3 planets and 25 for the other planets. So you'll most likely just drop to rank 4 because you're rank 5 city is already counted toward that cap. I'm 99.9% sure that's how it works, based on what I've read in the city guide and politician forum.

Rank 4 & 5 share the same cap. So they're counted as 1 class and not 2 seperate ones.
